Abstract
A method may include providing a live, interactive program or information associated with the live, interactive program on a video display device; and providing a live interactive content icon on the video display device when a current time is before an end time of the live, interactive program, the live interactive content icon indicating that live interactive content is available for the live, interactive program.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . (canceled)
2 . A method, comprising:
providing information associated with a live program for display on a video display device; and providing a live interactive content icon, for display on the video display device, when a current time is before an end time of the live program, the live interactive content icon indicating a capability of a user viewing the live program on the video display device to participate and interact remotely with other participants of the live program.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the video display device is a first display device, and wherein the live program includes a live quiz show in which the user participates and interacts with the other participants, wherein the method further comprises:
providing the live quiz show for display on the first display device; providing a quiz question for display on a second display device associated with the user, different than the first display device, wherein the live quiz show includes the quiz question; and receiving, from the user, an answer to the quiz question via the second display device.
4 . The method of claim 3 ,
wherein the second display device includes a touch-screen display, wherein receiving the answer to the quiz question includes receiving the answer to the quiz question from the user via the touch-screen display, and wherein the method further comprises:
receiving a selection, from the user, of the live program via the touch-screen display; and
providing the live quiz show for display on the first display device in response to receiving the selection of the live quiz show via the touch-screen display.
5 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the video display device is a first display device, and wherein the method further comprises:
receiving a selection, from the user, of the live program via a touch-screen display of a second device associated with the user, the second device being different than the first device; and providing the live program for display on the first display device in response to receiving the selection of the live program via the touch-screen display.
6 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
providing, when the current time is after the end time of the live program, information to the video display device to remove the display of the live interactive content icon.
7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising:
providing, when the current time is after the end time of the live program, information to display an on-demand content icon on the video display device, the on-demand content icon indicating that the live program was recorded and available on demand.
8 . The method of claim 3 , wherein providing the live program or the information associated with the live program includes providing one of a program guide, a program information page, or a program status bar.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein providing the live interactive content icon includes providing the live interactive content icon on the program guide, the program information page, or the program status bar in connection with the live program.
10 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising storing a database of a list of programs, information indicating that one of the programs is associated with a capability of a user viewing the program on a video display device to participate and interact remotely with other participants of the program, an end time of the one of the programs, and prerequisite information associated with the one of the programs.
11 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
comparing prerequisite information with information indicative of the user, wherein the prerequisite information is associated with the live program and includes a required minimum achievement level in an academic class in which the user is a student; and based on the comparing, providing the live program for display on the video display device when an actual achievement level of the user in the academic class meets or exceeds the minimum achievement level and denying providing the live program for display on the video display device when the actual achievement level of the user does not meet the minimum achievement level.
12 . A system, comprising:
a device including:
a processor to determine a current time, and end time of a live program, and whether the current time is before the end time of the live program; and
a transmitter to send information associated with the live program including a live interactive content icon for display on a video display device when the processor determines that the current time is before an end time of the live program, the live interactive content icon indicating a capability of a user viewing the live program on the video display device to participate and interact remotely with other participants of the live program.
13 . The system of claim 12 ,
wherein the live program includes a live quiz show in which the user participates and interacts with the other participants, the system further comprising: a first display device including the video display device, wherein the transmitter is further configured to send the live quiz show to the first display device for display; and a second display device, associated with the user and different than the first display device, to display a quiz question, wherein the live quiz show includes the quiz question via the second display device.
14 . The system of claim 13 ,
wherein the second display device includes a touch-screen display to receive an answer to the quiz question from the user, wherein the touch-screen display is configured to receive a selection, from the user, of the live quiz show via the touch-screen display, and wherein the transmitter of the device is configured to send the live quiz show to the first display device in response to receiving the selection of the live quiz show via the touch-screen display.
15 . The system of claim 12 ,
a first display device including the video display device; and a second display device, associated with the user and different than the first display device,
wherein the second display device includes a touch-screen display,
wherein the touch-screen display is configured to receive a selection, from the user, of the live program via the touch-screen display, and
wherein the transmitter of the device is configured to send the live program to the first display device in response to receiving the selection of the live program via the touch-screen display.
16 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the transmitter of the device is further configured to send, when the current time is after the end time of the live program, information to the video display device to remove the display of the live interactive content icon.
17 . The system of claim 16 ,
wherein the processor is further configured to determine whether the current time is after the end time of the live program, and wherein the transmitter is configured to send to the video display device, when the processor determines that the current time is after the end time of the live program, an on-demand content icon, the on-demand content icon indicating that the live program was recorded and available on demand.
18 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the information associated with the live program includes one of a program guide, a program information page, or a program status bar.
19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the video display device is configured to display the live interactive content icon in one of the program guide, the program information page, or the program status bar in connection with the live program.
20 . The system of claim 19 , further comprising:
a memory to store a database to store a list of programs, information indicating that one of the programs is associated with a capability of a user viewing the program on a video display device to participate and interact remotely with other participants of the program, an end time of the one of the programs, and prerequisite information associated with the one of the programs.
21 . The system of claim 12 ,
wherein the processor is configured to compare prerequisite information with information indicative of the user, wherein the prerequisite information is associated with the live program and includes a required minimum achievement level in an academic class in which the user is a student, and wherein the transmitter is configured to send, based on the comparison, the live program for display on the video display device when an actual achievement level of the user in the academic class meets or exceeds the minimum achievement level and not send the live program for display on the video display device when the actual achievement level of the user does not meet the minimum achievement level.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
