Abstract

The DIGITAL WORKSPACE ERGONOMICS APPARATUSES, METHODS AND SYSTEMS (“DWE”) transform user multi-element touchscreen gestures via DWE components into updated digital collaboration whiteboard objects. In one embodiment, the DWE obtains user whiteboard input from a client device participating in a digital collaborative whiteboarding session. The DWE parses the user whiteboard input to determine user instructions, and modifies a tile object included in the digital collaborative whiteboarding session according to the determined user instructions. The DWE generates updated client viewport content for the client device. Also, the DWE determines that client viewport content of a second client device should be modified because of modifying the tile object included in the digital whiteboard. The DWE generates updated client viewport content for the second client device after determining that the content of the second client device should be modified, and provides the updated client viewport content to the second client device.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A system comprising an interactive computer display device, the interactive computer display device comprising:
 a display surface in which a vertically central section of the display surface is touch sensitive, and a section of the display surface either above or below the vertically central section of the display surface is touch insensitive;   a memory; and   a data processor coupled to the memory, the data processor configured to display workspace objects within the vertically central touch sensitive section, within the touch insensitive section, and partially within both the touch sensitive section and the touch insensitive section.   
     
     
         2 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the touch insensitive section extends from the top of the vertically central section of the display surface up to the top of the display surface,
 and wherein the display surface further has a lower touch insensitive section extending from the bottom of the vertically central section of the display surface down to the bottom of the display surface.   
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the display surface, when mounted in an upright orientation, is tall enough to extend above the eye level and below waste level of an average American adult. 
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 3 , wherein the vertically central section of the display surface has a height approximately equal to the distance between the eye level and the waste level of an average American adult. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 4 , wherein the touch insensitive section extends from the top of the vertically central section of the display surface up to the top of the display surface,
 and wherein the display surface further has a lower touch insensitive section extending from the bottom of the vertically central section of the display surface down to the bottom of the display surface.   
     
     
         6 . The system of  claim 1 , mounted such that the vertically central section of the display surface extends from the eye level to the waste level of an average American adult. 
     
     
         7 . The system of  claim 6 , wherein the touch insensitive section extends from the top of the vertically central section of the display surface up to the top of the display surface,
 and wherein the display surface further has a lower touch insensitive section extending from the bottom of the vertically central section of the display surface down to the bottom of the display surface.   
     
     
         8 . The system of  claim 1 , for use by a user, wherein the display surface, when mounted in an upright orientation, is tall enough to extend above the user's eye level and below the user's waste level. 
     
     
         9 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the touch insensitive section extends from the top of the vertically central section of the display surface up to the top of the display surface,
 wherein the display surface further has a lower touch insensitive section extending from the bottom of the vertically central section of the display surface down to the bottom of the display surface,   wherein the display surface comprises an array of adjoining rectangular display cells each oriented horizontally when the display surface is mounted in the upright orientation,   wherein the vertically central section has a height of no more than three display cells,   and wherein the touch insensitive sections of the display surface each have a height of at least one display cell.   
     
     
         10 . The system of  claim 8 , wherein the vertically central section has a height of no more than two display cells. 
     
     
         11 . The device of  claim 8 , wherein the array of adjoining rectangular display cells has a width of at least five display cells. 
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the data processor configured to:
 detect user behavior identifying a particular position on the vertically central section of the display surface; and   display a touch-responsive toolbar at a position on the display surface which is dependent upon the particular position.   
     
     
         13 . The system of  claim 12 , wherein the data processor is configured to display the toolbar such that no part of the toolbar ever extends above or below the vertically central section of the display surface. 
     
     
         14 . The system of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a memory; and   a data processor coupled to the memory, the data processor configured to:   receive user input from the vertically central section of the display surface;   modify an attribute of a collaborative workspace in dependence upon the user input;   generate an updated object in dependence upon the modified attribute; and   display the updated object on the display surface.   
     
     
         15 . The system of  claim 14 , wherein in displaying the updated object on the display surface, the data processor is further configured to display the updated object at least partially within the touch insensitive section. 
     
     
         16 . The system of  claim 14 , wherein in displaying the updated object on the display surface, the data processor is configured to display the updated object partially within the touch insensitive section and partially within the vertically central touch sensitive section. 
     
     
         17 . The system of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a memory;   a network interface; and   a data processor coupled to the memory, the data processor configured to:   modify an attribute of a collaborative workspace in dependence upon an event received from another touch sensitive device via the network interface;   generate an updated object in dependence upon the modified attribute; and   display the updated object on the display surface.   
     
     
         18 . The system of  claim 17 , wherein in displaying the updated object on the display surface, the data processor is further configured to display the updated object partially within the touch insensitive section and partially within the vertically central touch sensitive section. 
     
     
         19 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the display surface is not entirely coplanar. 
     
     
         20 . The system of  claim 19 , wherein the display surface includes first and second respectively planar display portions, the first and second display portions being adjacent to each other but non-coplanar with each other. 
     
     
         21 . The system of  claim 20 , wherein the vertically central section and the touch insensitive section of the display surface are both within the first display portion,
 and wherein the second display portion is adjacent horizontally to the first display portion.   
     
     
         22 . The system of  claim 21 , wherein the second display portion is angled relative to the first display portion such that a user position exists from which displays of both display portions are visible. 
     
     
         23 . The system of  claim 21 , wherein the second display portion is entirely touch insensitive.
