Quick release kayak anchor for shallow water
Abstract
Apparatus and system are disclosed for anchoring the kayak to the bottom of a body of shallow water. The apparatus includes a receiver tube attached to the kayak into which a guide sleeve and stake are held vertically. A tether line is attached to the stake at one end and to the kayak at the other locking it in the up position for paddling. The stake drops to anchor the kayak by releasing the tether line using an attachment device at a contact point proximate the seat. Pulling the tether line and re-attaching the attachment device retrieves the anchor and returns it to the locked up position for resuming paddling.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . Apparatus for anchoring a kayak to the bottom of a body of water comprised of:
a receiver tube that is mounted to the kayak in a vertical position; a sleeve inserted inside said receiver tube to provide stability and guidance to the system; a stake in said sleeve; a tether line that attaches to said stake on one end and attaches to the kayak at a contact point on the other end with a removable attachment device, affixing it in the up position; the release of this attachment device drops the stake into the bottom of a body of shallow water for anchoring, in the down position; the pulling of the tether line allows for retrieval of the stake and reattachment of the attachment device returns the stake into the up position for resuming paddling.
2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the receiver tube is mounted to the interior of the kayak using a scupper hole.
3 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the receiver tube is mounted to the exterior of the kayak using a bracket attachment.
4 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the stake is inserted into the mounted receiver tube by a smaller tube connector.
5 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the removable and re-attachable contact point is attached to the kayak.
6 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the receiver tube is notched to allow space for the tether line.
7 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein an end stop hardware is attached to the top of the stake to prevent loss through the bottom of the kayak.
8 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein an end stop is manufactured into the top of the stake itself to prevent loss through the bottom of the kayak.
9 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the stake is inserted through a spring to allow for shock absorption and in conjunction with the end stop to prevent loss through the bottom of the kayak.
10 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the tether line, attachment device, and contact point are mounted proximate to the seat for one-handed use.
11 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein a tag clip and accessory eye hardware are affixed to the kayak and used to prevent loss of the tether line and keep the line proximate to the seat for reach and retrieval of the anchor.
12 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the stake and sleeve are removable for storage.
13 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the stake and sleeve are permanently mounted to the vessel.
14 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the stake is inserted directly into the receiver tube and no sleeve apparatus is used.
15 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the stake is deployed from the system at a location proximate to the bow of the kayak.
16 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the stake is deployed from the system at a location proximate to the stern of the kayak.
17 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the tether line and thus stake are released and retrieved by hand.
