Abstract
A buying group discount system includes a universal discount card to provide discounts, rewards and/or offers to consumers participating in a buying group. Consumer purchases are aggregated with transactions of the entire buying group. Rewards and discounts are released to the buying group when the aggregated purchases satisfied criteria specified in a reward policy established by sellers. Furthermore, mechanisms are provided to enable the universal discount card to be positioned to provide contextual flash offers or advertisements.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . (canceled)
2 . A system for location-based transactions, the system comprising:
a first computing device, the first computing device comprising:
a non-transitory computer readable storage medium having embodied thereon instructions executable by a processor to generate a buyer profile including information about products or services purchased by the buyer, and determine a location of the buyer, and
a location-based service module executable by a processor to generate location-based data, wherein the location-based data corresponds to a search associated with the buyer, a first location of the buyer, and the buyer profile; and
a wireless transceiver that:
transmits the buyer profile to a central server, and
receives information associated with one or more sellers in proximity to the location of the buyer;
a second computing device, the second computing device comprising:
a non-transitory computer readable storage medium having embodied thereon instructions executable by a processor to receive a buyer profile from the central server, and determine a second location of the buyer,
a location-based service module executable by a processor to generate location-based data, wherein the location-based data corresponds to a search associated with the buyer, a second location of the buyer, and the buyer profile, and
a wireless transceiver that receives buyer information associated with one or more sellers in proximity to the second location of the buyer.
3 . The system of claim 2 wherein the buyer's location is different from the buyer's second location.
4 . The system of claim 2 further comprising:
a third computing device, the third computing device comprising:
a non-transitory computer readable storage medium having embodied thereon instructions executable by a processor to receive a buyer profile from the central server, and determine a third location of the buyer,
a location-based service module executable by a processor to generate location-based data, wherein the location-based data corresponds to a search associated with the buyer, a third location of the buyer, and the buyer profile, and
a wireless transceiver that receives buyer information associated with one or more sellers in proximity to the third location of the buyer.
5 . The system of claim 2 wherein the location-based data comprises one or more offers from the one or more sellers.
6 . The system of claim 2 wherein the location of the buyer is determined with a global positioning system.
7 . The system of claim 2 wherein the location-based data is transmitted to the one or more interested parties.
8 . The system of claim 7 wherein the wireless transmitter receives an offer for a product or service in response to the search associated with the buyer at the buyer's location.
9 . The system of claim 8 wherein the offer for the product or service of a particular seller includes a discount that is calculated according to a purchase amount achieved during a particular time period by the buyer from the particular seller.
10 . The system of claim 2 wherein the instructions executable by the processor allow for purchase of a product or service.
11 . The system of claim 10 wherein the purchase of the product or service is in conjunction with a sponsored credit or debit card selected as a default payment method.
12 . A method for location-based transactions, the method comprising:
executing instructions stored in memory of a first computing device, wherein execution of the instructions by a processor:
generates a buyer profile including information about products or services purchased by the buyer, and
determines a location of the buyer; and
generating location-based data, wherein the location-based data corresponds to a search associated with the buyer, a first location of the buyer, and the buyer profile; and transmitting the buyer profile to a central server; receiving information associated with one or more sellers in proximity to the location of the buyer; executing instructions stored in memory of a second computing device, wherein the execution of the instructions by the processor:
receives the buyer profile from the central server; and
determines a second location of the buyer;
generating location-based data, wherein the location-based data corresponds to a search associated with the buyer, a second location of the buyer, and the buyer profile; and receiving buyer information associated with one or more sellers in proximity to the second location of the buyer.
13 . The method of claim 12 wherein the buyer's location is different from the buyer's second location.
14 . The method of claim 12 further comprising:
executing instructions stored in memory of a third computing device, wherein the execution of the instructions by the processor:
receives the buyer profile from the central server; and
determines a third location of the buyer;
generating location-based data, wherein the location-based data corresponds to a search associated with the buyer, a third location of the buyer, and the buyer profile; and
receiving buyer information associated with one or more sellers in proximity to the third location of the buyer.
15 . The method of claim 12 wherein the location-based data comprises one or more offers from the one or more sellers.
16 . The method of claim 12 wherein the determining a location of the buyer is determined with a global positioning system.
17 . The method of claim 12 further comprising transmitting the location-based data to the one or more interested parties.
18 . The method of claim 17 further comprising receiving an offer for a product or service in response to the search associated with the buyer at the buyer's location.
19 . The method of claim 18 wherein the receiving an offer for the product or service is a result of a seller paying a third party to advertise based, at least in part, on the search associated with the buyer.
20 . The method of claim 12 wherein the instructions executable by the processor allows for purchase of a product or service.
21 . The method of claim 20 wherein the purchase of the product or service is in conjunction with a sponsored credit or debit card selected as a default payment method.
22 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having embodied thereon instructions executable by a processor to perform a method for location-based transactions, the method comprising:
generating a buyer profile on a first computing device including information about products or services purchased by the buyer, and determining a location of the buyer; and generating location-based data, wherein the location-based data corresponds to a search associated with the buyer, a first location of the buyer, and the buyer profile; and transmitting the buyer profile to a central server; receiving information associated with one or more sellers in proximity to the location of the buyer; receiving on a second computing device the buyer profile from the central server; determining a second location of the buyer; generating location-based data, wherein the location-based data corresponds to a search associated with the buyer, a second location of the buyer, and the buyer profile; and
receiving buyer information associated with one or more sellers in proximity to the second location of the buyer.
23 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 22 wherein the buyer profile includes demographic information associated with the buyer.
24 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 22 further comprising:
receiving on a third computing device the buyer profile from the central server;
determining a third location of the buyer;
generating location-based data, wherein the location-based data corresponds to a search associated with the buyer, a third location of the buyer, and the buyer profile; and
receiving buyer information associated with one or more sellers in proximity to the third location of the buyer.
25 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 22 , wherein the buyer profile includes information provided by the buyer that includes a preference.
26 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 22 , wherein the buyer profile is resident on the Internet and accessible by the buyer.
27 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 22 , wherein the computing device is a hand-held computer.
28 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 22 , wherein the computing device is a phone.
29 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 22 , wherein the computing device is connected to an automobile.
