Abstract

The invention relates to compositions comprising of SEQ NO: 1-244, 248-249, and any homologs, analogs, and fragments thereof. Such compositions can be used to treat, prevent, and modulate pain, inflammation, and metabolic processes in various organisms including plants and animals. Such compositions can be formulated with an acceptable pharmaceutical excipient for administration to a human or a plant. The compositions can be administered topically or for systemic use.

1 . A pharmaceutical formulation comprising: a peptide consisting of SEQ ID NO: 45 and a pharmaceutical excipient for transdermal or topical administration. 
     
     
         2 . A method of modulating heat in an organism comprising: administering to said organism a composition comprising: (i) an isolated polypeptide comprising SEQ ID NO: 45, said polypeptide optionally having one conservative amino acid substitutions, or (ii) a nucleic acid sequence encoding said polypeptide. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2  wherein said condition is a metabolic condition. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 2  wherein said condition is a mitochondrial condition. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 2  wherein said condition is a thermogenic or pyrogenic condition. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 2  wherein said organism is a human. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 2  wherein said organism is a plant or a seed.
