Abstract

A machine-based method includes recording, by one or more computers, a first model for use in valuing a financial instrument in a financial market, publishing by the one or more computers the first model to systems of a group of users, receiving by the one or more computers review information pertaining to the first model resulting from publishing the first model and recording, at the one or more computers, a second model derived from the first model based on received review information and the associated data.

Claims

1 . A machine-based method comprising:
recording, by one or more computers, a first model for use in valuing a financial instrument; publishing by the one or more computers, the first model to systems of a group of users; receiving by the one or more computers, review information pertaining to the first model, the review information being provided based on review of the published first model by one or more users of the group of users; recording, at the one or more computers, a second model, the second model derived from the first model and including modifications to the first model, with the modifications based at least in part on the received review information and data associated with valuation of the financial instrument; and providing, by the one or more computers, the second model for execution to value the financial instrument.

         2 . (canceled)

3 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:
recording, at the one or more computers, the data associated with the financial instrument and the first model.

         4 . (canceled)

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving by a computer system that executes wiki-based application inputs from the group of users to produce by the computer system the second model.

         6 - 45 . (canceled)

         46 . A machine-based method comprising:
receiving, by one or more computers, a request for valuing a financial instrument and data associated with the financial instrument; providing, by the one or more computers, to systems of one or more participants access to a first model to value the financial instrument and at least some of the data associated with the financial instrument; receiving by the one or more computers from the one or more systems of the participants comments and or modifications to the first model; recording, at the one or more computers, a second model, the second model being derived from the first model based on comments and/or modifications made by the one or more participants, the second model being executable for valuing the financial instrument; and delivering, by the one or more computers, information about the first model, the second model, and the comments and/or the modifications made by the one or more participants to a system associated with origination of the request for valuing the financial instrument.

47 . The machine-based method of claim 46 , wherein providing further comprises:
automatically generating the first model based on the request and the data associated with the financial instrument.

48 . The machine-based method of claim 46 , wherein providing further comprises:
selecting the first model from a group of stored models based on the request and the data associated with the financial instrument.

         49 . The machine-based method of claim 46 , further comprising:
receiving data from execution of the second model for valuing the financial instrument; and updating the second model based on the received data from the execution.

         50 . The machine-based method of claim 49 , further comprising:
providing the updated second model for valuing another financial instrument and further updating the updated second model based on data received from execution of the updated second model for valuing the other financial instrument.

         51 . The machine-based method of claim 49 , further comprising:
iteratively updating the second model based on repeated use of the second model in valuing plural financial instruments.

         52 . The machine-based method of claim 51 , further comprising:
publishing outputs for the repeated use to systems associated an authorized group of users to review the outputs.

         53 . The machine-based method of claim 51 , further comprising:
causing updates of the second model to be sent the system associated with origination of the request for valuing the financial instrument.

         54 . The machine-based method of claim 46 , further comprising:
recording, at the one or more computers, multiple different second models, each second model being derived from the first model based on comments and/or modifications made by the one or more participants and being based on different assumptions; and delivering, by the one or more computers, multiple valuations of the financial instrument using the multiple second models to the system associated with origination of the request for valuing the financial instrument.

         55 . The machine-based method of claim 46 , further comprising:
determining based on the request and the data, whether to automatically generate a model as the first model or to select a stored model as the first model.

56 . The machine-based method of claim 46 , wherein the data comprises asset portfolio characteristics, liability characteristics, legal documents, economic data, market data, underlying loan pool data, or cash flow data.

         57 . The machine-based method of claim 46 , further comprising:
encrypting the data associated with the financial instrument.

         58 . The machine-based method of claim 46 , further comprising:
automatically providing valuation results of the financial instrument based on execution of the second model to the system associated with origination of the request for valuing the financial instrument.

         59 . The machine-based method of claim 46 , further comprising:
categorizing the financial instrument based on the data and selecting the first model and/or the systems of one or more participants based on the categorization of the financial instrument.

         60 . A machine-based method comprising:
sending by a computer to a valuation system a request for valuing a financial instrument and data associated with the financial instrument; receiving, by the computer, information about a first model selected by the valuation system as being associated with the financial instrument; receiving, by the computer, information about a second model derived from the first model based at least in part on comments and modifications made to the first model; and executing the second model by the computer to value the financial instrument.

         61 . The machine-based method of claim 60 , further comprising:
uploading a portfolio to the valuation system for valuing the financial instrument.
