Abstract

A liquid-crystalline coating fluid which comprises: an azo compound represented by the following general formula (1); and a solvent to dissolve the azo compound: wherein R is an amino group, a cyano group, a hydroxyl group, a nitro group, a halogen group or a hydrogen atom; and M is a counterion.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A polarizing film obtained by casting a liquid-crystalline coating fluid in a thin film state, the liquid-crystalline coating fluid comprising:
an azo compound represented by the following general formula (1); and a solvent to dissolve the azo compound:

wherein R is an amino group, a cyano group, a hydroxyl group, a nitro group, a halogen group or a hydrogen atom; and M is a counterion.
