Collapsible Furniture Modules and Articles of Furniture Assembled with the Modules

Abstract

A module for forming furniture includes an upper frame, a lower frame, and at least two support posts to connect said upper frame to said lower frame whereby said upper frame and lower frame form an assembled configuration when said support posts connect and a disassembled configuration when said support post connection is disconnected.

I claim: 
     
         1 . A module for forming furniture, said module comprising:
 an upper frame;   a lower frame;   at least two support posts to connect said upper frame to said lower frame whereby said upper frame and lower frame form an assembled configuration when said support posts connect and a disassembled configuration when said support post connection is disconnected.   
     
     
         2 . The module of  claim 1 , where in said upper frame has at least one side plate, wherein said side plate is configured to rotate into a perpendicular orientation relative to said frame and a substantially parallel orientation relative to said frame. 
     
     
         3 . The module of  claim 2 , wherein said rotation is effectuated by at least one hinge connected each to said side portion and said base frame. 
     
     
         4 . The module of  claim 1 , wherein said upper frame has a pair of opposing side plates and said lower frame has a pair of opposing side plates, whereby each set of opposing side plates is constructed and arranged to define four side walls of a rectangular solid when said upper frame and said lower frame are in an assembled configuration. 
     
     
         5 . The module of  claim 1  wherein said upper frame has a seat support structure attached thereto whereby said seat support structure is constructed and arranged to remain in place on said upper frame when said upper frame is in each of the assembled and unassembled configurations. 
     
     
         6 . An article of furniture comprising:
 at least one module according to  claim 1 ,   wherein said module is assembled into an article of furniture.   
     
     
         7 . The furniture of  claim 6 , wherein said furniture is any of an ottoman, a chair, a loveseat, or a sofa. 
     
     
         8 . The furniture of  claim 6  wherein a single module is utilized to form said furniture. 
     
     
         9 . The furniture of  claim 6  wherein between 2-20 modules are used to form said furniture. 
     
     
         10 . The furniture of  claim 6  including at least one arm member attached to said module. 
     
     
         11 . The furniture of  claim 6  including at least one back portion attached to said module. 
     
     
         12 . A module for forming furniture, said module comprising:
 at least one collapsible support frame;   a means for locking said collapsible frame into a standing assembled position.   
     
     
         13 . The module of  claim 12  having one or more support posts to support said frame in a standing position, said posts and frame forming a furniture module in an assembled configuration. 
     
     
         14 . The module of  claim 12  having one or more side plates, wherein said side plate is configured to rotate into a perpendicular orientation relative to said frame and a substantially parallel orientation relative to said frame. 
     
     
         15 . The module of  claim 14  wherein said rotation is about a hinge connected each to said plate and support frame.
