Method For Filling A Biodegradable And Compostable Component For Cosmetic Packaging

Abstract

A biodegradable component for a package for storing and dispensing a cosmetic product or a beauty care product made from compressed fibrous biomass bound by a cosmetically compatible and compostable binder is filled by adhering the product to at least one surface of the component.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method of filling a cosmetic and beauty care product into a biodegradable component of a package for storing and dispensing such product, the method comprising:
 forming the biodegradable component from a fibrous biomass and a cosmetically compatible and compostable binder, the component having a product reservoir with surface, at least one portion of the surface having at least one of a rough surface topography and extending free portions of individual ones of the fibrous biomass;   preparing a quantity of the product in a filling state, the quantity of product including a product binder;   filling the selected quantity of product into the reservoir;   adhering the quantity of product to at least one portion of the surface by at least one of curing the product binder and pressing the quantity of product.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1  wherein the curing is accomplished with steam. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1  wherein the filling state is one of a liquid, a paste, a fluid, a powder, a cake pre-form, a cake final-form, an extrusion and a puck. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1  wherein the pressing is conducted at a pressure in the range of 0.1 p.s.i to 2,500 p.s.i.
