Apparatus and method for transportation and upselling of product

Abstract

A system and method for using product profiling to maximize load capacity of a vehicle. The method includes defining product profiles and retrieving product information associated with the product profiles. The method further includes performing cubing operations for products associated with the product information. The system includes components to perform the method steps.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A system comprising:
 a CPU, a computer readable memory and a computer readable storage media;   program instructions to retrieve product profiles;   program instructions to retrieve product information associated with the product profiles;   program instructions to provide a break point to eliminate a skewed proportion for products being shipped, wherein the break point maximizes profitability for the products being shipped; and   program instructions to perform cubing operations for products associated with the product information,   wherein the program instructions are stored on the computer readable storage media for execution by the CPU via the computer readable memory.   
     
     
         2 . The system of  claim 1 , further comprising program instructions to correct a proportionality of the products associated with the product. 
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the break point ensures that a load capacity of a vehicle is optimized by eliminating one or more products that do not meet a threshold requirement. 
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the product information is retrieved as percentages. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the program instructions are implemented in web based transactions or other real time transactions. 
     
     
         6 . The system of  claim 1 , further comprising program instructions to retrieve product information from past shipments. 
     
     
         7 . The system of  claim 1 , further comprising program instructions to, as products are purchased, store a list of the products to be shipped in a profiling system with statistical information. 
     
     
         8 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the cubing operations include at least one of a weight cubing estimation and a volume cubing estimation. 
     
     
         9 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the break point excludes an item from a shipment based on percentage of profitability. 
     
     
         10 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein the correcting of the proportionality is calculated by:

       n> 0,   wherein,   P=product;   n=the position in the array;   n>0; and   x is greater than or equal to top, defined as the highest position in the array.   
     
     
         11 . A method implemented in a computer infrastructure having computer executable code tangibly embodied on a computer readable storage medium having programming instructions operable to:
 retrieving product profiles;   retrieving product information associated with the product profiles, wherein the product information is historical product information;   determining that a past product exists based on the historical product information;   providing the past product for shipment when the past product exists; and   performing cubing operations for the past products and additional products associated with the product information.   
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 11 , further comprising correcting a proportionality of the products associated with the product information. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein when the products are no longer in existence, replacement products are placed on the list for future shipment. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 13 , wherein the replacement products are products with a profitability above a threshold. 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 11 , further comprising creating a break point to eliminate skewing of the products. 
     
     
         16 . A computer program product comprising a computer readable storage device or memory having readable program code embodied in the device or memory, the computer program product includes at least one component to:
 retrieve product profiles;   retrieve product information associated with the product profiles, wherein the product information is historical product information;   determine that a past product exists based on the historical product information;   provide the past product for shipment when the past product exists; and   perform cubing operations for the past products and additional products associated with the product information.   
     
     
         17 . The computer program product of  claim 16 , wherein the at least one component is further configured to correct a proportionality of the products associated with the product information. 
     
     
         18 . The computer program product of  claim 16 , wherein the at least one component is further configured to create a break point to eliminate skewing of the products.
