Wireless venue infrastructure providing location based services to wireless hand held devices

Abstract

Wireless venue infrastructure includes a venue positioning system that includes one or more communication devices functioning in concert with one another to communicate with and determine location information of one or more hand held devices. The wireless venue infrastructure can further include one or more servers that communicate with one or more of the hand held devices via at least one of the communication devices to provide the hand held device(s) with video captured by cameras located throughout the venue and at least one of: statistical data, team data, scores, concession information, text messages, and Internet access.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . Wireless venue infrastructure, comprising:
 a venue positioning system including a plurality of communication devices functioning in concert with one another to communicate with and determine location information of at least one hand held device; and   at least one server in communication with said at least one hand held device via at least one of said plurality of communication devices to provide said at least one hand held device with video captured by cameras located throughout the venue and at least one of: statistical data, team data, scores, concession information, text messages, and Internet access.   
     
     
         2 . The wireless venue infrastructure of  claim 1  wherein at least some of said location information is determined by triangularization. 
     
     
         3 . The wireless venue infrastructure of  claim 1  wherein at least some of said location information is determined by GPS. 
     
     
         4 . The wireless venue infrastructure of  claim 1  wherein at least some of said plurality of communication devices is associated with venue concession services. 
     
     
         5 . The wireless venue infrastructure of  claim 1  further comprising at least one wireless gateway that communicates with said at least one server and said at least one hand held device. 
     
     
         6 . The wireless venue infrastructure of  claim 1  further comprising at least one wireless gateway that communicates with said at least one of said plurality of communication devices. 
     
     
         7 . The wireless venue infrastructure of  claim 1  wherein said at least one hand held device comprises at least of a Smartphone and a tablet computing device. 
     
     
         8 . The wireless venue infrastructure of  claim 1  wherein said at least one of said plurality of communication devices comprises at least of a Smartphone and a tablet computing device. 
     
     
         9 . The wireless venue infrastructure of  claim 6  wherein said at least one hand held device comprises at least of a Smartphone and a tablet computing device. 
     
     
         10 . The wireless venue infrastructure of  claim 7  wherein said at least one of said plurality of communication devices comprises at least of a Smartphone and a tablet computing device. 
     
     
         11 . Wireless venue infrastructure, comprising:
 a venue positioning system including a plurality of communication devices functioning in concert with one another to communicate with and determine location information of at least one hand held device; and   a wireless network in communication with said at least one hand held device via at least one of said plurality of communication devices to provide said at least one hand held device with video captured by cameras located throughout the venue and at least one of: statistical data, team data, scores, concession information, text messages, and Internet access.   
     
     
         12 . The wireless venue infrastructure of  claim 11  wherein at least some of said location information is determined by triangularization. 
     
     
         13 . The wireless venue infrastructure of  claim 11  wherein at least some of said location information is determined by GPS. 
     
     
         14 . The wireless venue infrastructure of  claim 11  wherein at least some of said plurality of communication devices is associated with venue concession services. 
     
     
         15 . The wireless venue infrastructure of  claim 14  further comprising at least one wireless gateway that communicates with said at least one server and said at least one hand held device. 
     
     
         16 . The wireless venue infrastructure of  claim 14  further comprising at least one wireless gateway that communicates with said at least one of said plurality of communication devices. 
     
     
         17 . Wireless venue infrastructure, comprising:
 a venue positioning system including a plurality of communication devices functioning in concert with one another to communicate with and determine location information of at least one hand held device, said location information including at least one of a section, a seat, and a row; and   at least one server in communication with said at least one hand held device via at least one of said plurality of communication devices to provide said at least one hand held device with video captured by cameras located throughout the venue and at least one of: statistical data, team data, scores, concession information, text messages, and Internet access.   
     
     
         18 . The wireless venue infrastructure of  claim 17  wherein at least some of said location information is determined by triangularization. 
     
     
         19 . The wireless venue infrastructure of  claim 1  wherein at least some of said location information is determined by GPS. 
     
     
         20 . The wireless venue infrastructure of  claim 1  wherein at least some of said plurality of communication devices is associated with venue concession services.
