Abstract

A digital broadcasting stream transmitting method and a digital broadcasting stream receiving method and apparatus for providing three-dimensional (3D) video services are provided. The transmitting method including: generating a plurality of elementary streams (ESs) for a plurality of pieces of video information including at least one of information about a base-view video of a 3D video, information about an additional-view video corresponding to the base-view video, and a two-dimensional (2D) video having a different view from views of the 3D video; multiplexing the plurality of ESs with link information for identifying at least one piece of video information linked with the plurality of pieces of video information, to generate at least one transport stream (TS); and transmitting the generated at least one TS via at least one channel.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method of transmitting a datastream for providing a stereoscopic video broadcasting service, the method comprising:
 generating a first elementary stream including base view video data;   generating a second elementary stream including additional view video data corresponding to the base view video data;   generating a program map table (PMT) including stereo service information indicating whether the stereoscopic service is included in the first and second elementary streams, view identification information indicating which one of the base-view video data and additional-view video data is included in the first elementary stream or the second elementary stream, and which one of the base-view video data and additional-view video data is included in the other, and additional-view resolution information indicating a first scaling ratio in a horizontal direction and a second scaling ratio in a vertical direction for the additional-view video data; and   transmitting the first elementary stream, the second elementary stream and the PMT.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 ,
 wherein the stereo service information is included in a first descriptor in the PMT; and   wherein the view identification information and the additional-view resolution information are included in a second descriptor in the PMT.   
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 ,
 wherein the base view video data is encoded using a MPEG2 coding technique; and   wherein the additional view video data is encoded using a H.264/AVC coding technique.   
     
     
         4 . A method of receiving a datastream for providing a stereoscopic video broadcasting service, the method comprising:
 receiving a first elementary steam and a second elementary stream for providing the stereoscopic video broadcasting service, and a Program Map table (PMT) for the first elementary steam and the second elementary stream;   extracting view stereo service information indicating whether the stereoscopic service is included in the first and second elementary streams in the PMT;   extracting view identification information indicating which one of base-view video data and additional-view video data the first elementary stream and second elementary stream respectively comprise, from a predetermined descriptor in the PMT;   extracting additional-view resolution information indicating a first scaling ratio in a horizontal direction and a second scaling ratio in a vertical direction for the additional-view video data, from the predetermined descriptor in the PMT; and   decoding the base-view video data and the additional-view video data respectively from the first and second elementary streams based on the stereo service information, the view identification information and the additional-view resolution information, and rendering the stereoscopic service using the extracted base- and additional-view video data.   
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4 ,
 wherein the stereo service information is extracted from a first descriptor in the PMT; and   wherein the view identification information and the additional-view resolution information are extracted from a second descriptor in the PMT.   
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 4 , wherein the rendering the extracted base- and additional-view video data comprises:
 decoding the base-view video data extracted from the first elementary stream using a MPEG2 coding technique; and   decoding the additional-view video data extracted from the second elementary stream using a H.264/AVC coding technique.
