Abstract

A method of providing navigational information by a navigation system comprising: determining an uncertainty in a device location; retrieving a mode based on the uncertainty; and providing navigational information processed by the mode for displaying on a device.

         1 . A method of providing navigational information by a navigation system comprising:
 determining an uncertainty in a device location;   retrieving a mode based on the uncertainty; and   providing navigational information processed according to the mode for displaying on a device.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1  further comprising:
 receiving a connection for receiving or conveying information with a user; 
 
       wherein:
 determining the uncertainty includes determining the uncertainty based on a latency in the connection. 
 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1  wherein determining the uncertainty includes determining the uncertainty based on a sampling rate of measurement information. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1  wherein determining the uncertainty includes determining the uncertainty based on an error size associated with identifying a location. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1  wherein retrieving the mode based on the uncertainty includes retrieving the mode based on the uncertainty in the calculated device location information. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1  wherein retrieving the mode based on the uncertainty includes retrieving a precise instruction message mode. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1  wherein retrieving the mode based on the uncertainty includes retrieving a fuzzy instruction mode. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1  wherein retrieving the mode based on the uncertainty includes retrieving a summary instruction mode. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 1  wherein retrieving the mode based on the uncertainty includes retrieving a selective instruction mode. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 1  wherein retrieving the mode based on the uncertainty includes retrieving a static instruction mode.
