Abstract

A method and apparatus for transmitting data in code division multiple access communications. The method includes processing spread first data with a channel response matrix using an equalization circuit to pre-equalize the spread data to compensate for a channel response prior to transmission. The pre-equalized data is received and recovered by a receiver. Second data, transmitted from the receiver, is received and recovered using the equalization circuit to equalize the second data to compensate for a channel response that the first data encountered.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) configured for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) communications, the WTRU comprising:
a processor configured to derive channel state information from at least one received signal; the processor configured to determine a channel response matrix based on the channel state information; the processor configured to process a plurality of data streams with the channel response matrix to pre-equalize the plurality of data streams to compensate for channel impairments; and a transmitter configured to transmit the pre-equalized plurality of data streams.

2 . The WTRU of claim 1 wherein the channel state information is gathered in a downlink time slot for a subsequent uplink transmission slot.

3 . A method for use in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) communications, the method comprising:
receiving channel state information; determining a channel response matrix based on the received channel state information; processing a plurality of data streams with the channel response matrix to pre-equalize the plurality of data streams to compensate for channel impairments; and transmitting the pre-equalized plurality of data streams.

4 . The method of claim 3 wherein the channel state information is gathered in a downlink time slot for a subsequent uplink transmission slot.
