Abstract

One method for transferring funds includes receiving at a web server computer a request to transfer funds from a sender to a receiver. The request includes information identifying the sender and a payment vehicle for providing funds to transfer. The payment vehicle is validated and a transaction identifier is generated or assigned. The transaction identifier may be transmitted from the web server computer to the sender. When ready to receive the funds, the transaction identifier is entered into an ATM. If the transaction identifier is validated, the funds are dispensed from the ATM.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . (canceled)

2 . A method for transferring funds, comprising:
receiving, at a money transfer host computer, a request to transfer funds from a sender to a receiver; transmitting, in response to the request to transfer funds, a transaction identifier and a pass code from the host computer to the sender, for the sender to provide to the receiver; and validating, at the host computer and prior to transferring funds at an automated teller machine (ATM), the transaction identifier and pass code inputted by the receiver at the ATM.

3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
transmitting, from the host computer in response to a request for pickup information, ATM information relating to one or more ATM locations nearby the receiver where the funds may be received; and receiving, at the host computer, the transaction identifier and pass code as inputted by the receiver at the ATM.

4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising:
receiving, at the host computer prior to transmitting ATM information, a request for pick-up information relating to an ATM location nearby the receiver.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the request for pickup information is received at the host computer from the sender.

6 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the request for pickup information is received at the host computer from the receiver.

7 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the request to transfer funds and the request for pickup information is made by the sender accessing a webpage hosted by the host computer.

8 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the request to transfer funds from a sender to a receiver includes information identifying the sender and a payment vehicle for providing funds to transfer.

9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
validating the payment vehicle and, in response, generating at the host computer both the transaction identifier and the pass code, wherein the transaction identifier uniquely identifies a money transfer transaction and is associated with funds to be transferred, and the pass code is for use in verifying the receiver.

10 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
transferring funds at the ATM after validating the transaction identifier and pass code.

11 . The method of claim 9 , wherein transferring funds at the ATM comprises dispensing funds at the ATM.

12 . A method for transferring funds, comprising:
receiving a request for pick-up information, the request for pick-up information relating to an ATM pick-up location nearby the receiver for receiving funds being transferred from a sender to the receiver; generating the pick-up information to be provided to the receiver; receiving, at an ATM system, a request to transfer funds from the sender to the receiver, the request including a transaction identifier and pass code entered at an ATM by the receiver, the transaction identifier for uniquely identifying a money transfer transaction and the pass code for verifying the receiver; transmitting the entered transaction identifier and pass code to a money transfer host computer in order to validate the money transfer transaction; receiving, at the ATM system, a validation from the money transfer host computer based on the comparison of the inputted transaction identifier and pass code entered at the ATM to a stored transaction identifier and pass code generated at the money transfer host computer when a money transfer request is made by the sender; and dispensing funds at the ATM if both the inputted transaction identifier and pass code are validated at the money transfer host computer.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the request for pickup information is received from the sender.

14 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the request for pickup information is received from the receiver.

15 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the request to transfer funds and the request for pickup information is made by the sender accessing a webpage hosted by the host computer.

16 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the request to transfer funds from a sender to a receiver includes information identifying the sender and a payment vehicle for providing funds to transfer.

17 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising:
validating the payment vehicle and, in response, generating at the host computer both the transaction identifier and the pass code, wherein the transaction identifier uniquely identifies a money transfer transaction and is associated with funds to be transferred, and the pass code is for use in verifying the receiver.

18 . A money transfer system for transferring funds, comprising:
one or more processors; a memory, the memory storing instructions that are executed by one or more of the processors in order to configure the money transfer system to: receive a money transfer request to transfer funds from a sender to a receiver; generate, at the money transfer system and in response to the money transfer request, both a transaction identifier for identifying a money transfer transaction and a pass code for verifying the receiver; transmit both the transaction identifier and the pass code from the money transfer system to the sender, for the sender to provide to the receiver; receive a request for automated teller machine (ATM) pick-up information at the money transfer system; transmit, in response to the request for ATM pick-up information, ATM information identifying one or more ATM locations nearby the receiver where the funds may be dispensed; receive a transaction identifier and pass code entered at an ATM; and validating, prior to dispensing funds at the ATM, the transaction identifier and the pass code entered at the ATM, by comparing the transaction identifier and pass code entered at the ATM to the transaction identifier and pass code generated at the money transfer system in response to the money transfer request.

19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the request for pickup information is received at the money transfer system from the sender.

20 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the request for pickup information is received at the money transfer system from the receiver.

21 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the request to transfer funds and the request for pickup information is made by the sender accessing a webpage hosted by the money transfer system.

22 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the request to transfer funds from a sender to a receiver includes information identifying the sender and a payment vehicle for providing funds to transfer.

23 . The method of claim 22 , wherein the memory stores instructions that are executed by one or more of the processors in order to further configure the money transfer system to:
validate the payment vehicle and, in response, generate at the money transfer system both the transaction identifier and the pass code.

24 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the memory stores instructions that are executed by one or more of the processors in order to further configure the money transfer system to:
