Management system embedded in an industrial vehicle
Abstract
Operation of the industrial vehicle is managed by devices onboard the vehicle. One such management device includes a portable memory device issued to a person authorized to operate the vehicle. The vehicle control system, by reading data from the portable memory device, determines whether the person is permitted to operate that particular industrial vehicle and if so enables that operation. Another management device transmits a data signal through a power line on the industrial vehicle and uses a magnetically permeable wire bead in a unique manner to negate a short circuit effect that a component has on the data signal transmission. A further management device includes a module to interface a data acquisition module, designed to connect to a communication network of one type of industrial vehicle, for use with other vehicles.

12 . A system for transmitting data between components of an industrial vehicle that are powered by electricity received through a power line, said system comprising:
a first electrical choke with a conductor passing there through, wherein the conductor connects a first component to the power line; and a first communication circuit for at least one of sending and receiving message signals and having a transmission wire for carrying the message signals, wherein the transmission wire passes through the first electrical choke and is electrically attached coupled to the conductor at a point between the first electrical choke and the first component.
13 . The system as recited in claim 12 wherein the first electrical choke is a cylindrical tube through which the conductor and the transmission wire pass.
14 . The system as recited in claim 12 wherein the first electrical choke comprises a body of a magnetically permeable material.
15 . The system as recited in claim 12 wherein the first electrical choke comprises a body of a ferromagnetic material.
16 . The system as recited in claim 12 wherein the first component comprises a battery.
17 . The system as recited in claim 12 wherein the transmission wire passes through the first electrical choke in a first direction going from the first communication circuit to the conductor; and the conductor passes through the first electrical choke in a second direction going from the first component to the power line, wherein the second direction is opposite to the first direction.
18 . The system as recited in claim 12 further comprising a plurality of additional electrical chokes adjacent other components of the industrial vehicle and through which the power line passes.
19 . The system as recited in claim 12 further comprising a second communication circuit operatively connected for at least one of sending and receiving the message signals that travel through the power line.

23 . A system for transmitting data between components of an industrial vehicle that are powered by electricity received through a power line, said system comprising:
a first electrical choke comprising a cylindrical tube of magnetically permeable material and through which a conductor passes, wherein the conductor connects a first component to the power line; and a first communication circuit for at least one of sending and receiving message signals and having a transmission wire for carrying the message signals, wherein the transmission wire passes through the cylindrical tube and is electrically attached to the conductor at a point between the first electrical choke and the first component.
24 . The system as recited in claim 23 wherein the magnetically permeable material is a ferromagnetic material.
25 . The system as recited in claim 23 wherein the first component comprises a battery.
26 . The system as recited in claim 23 wherein the transmission wire passes through the first electrical choke in a first direction going from the first communication circuit to the conductor; and the conductor passes through the first electrical choke in a second direction going from the first component to the power line, wherein the second direction is opposite to the first direction.
27 . The system as recited in claim 23 further comprising a plurality of additional electrical chokes adjacent other components of the industrial vehicle and through which the power line passes.
28 . The system as recited in claim 23 further comprising a second communication circuit operatively connected for at least one of sending and receiving the message signals that travel through the power line.
29 . A system for transmitting data between components of an industrial vehicle that are powered by electricity received through a power line, said system comprising:
a first electrical choke comprising a cylindrical tube through which a conductor passes, wherein the conductor connects a first component to the power line and the conductor passes through the first electrical choke in one direction going from the first component to the power line; and a first communication circuit for at least one of sending and receiving message signals and having a transmission wire for carrying the message signals, wherein the transmission wire passes through the cylindrical tube in another different direction going from the first component to the power line, and wherein the transmission wire is electrically attached to the conductor at a point between the first electrical choke and the first component.
30 . The system as recited in claim 29 wherein the first electrical choke comprises a body of a magnetically permeable material.
32 . The system as recited in claim 29 wherein the first electrical choke comprises a body of a ferromagnetic material.
33 . The system as recited in claim 29 wherein the first component comprises a battery.
34 . The system as recited in claim 29 further comprising a plurality of additional electrical chokes adjacent other components of the industrial vehicle and through which the power line passes.
35 . The system as recited in claim 29 further comprising a second communication circuit operatively connected for at least one of sending and receiving the message signals that travel through the power line.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
