Abstract

In a printing control apparatus and method for performing printing by a printing device based upon a print job, a password corresponding to a print job is entered and print data with the accompanying password is generated and sent from a host computer to a printer, where the print data is to be printed. The host computer is capable of setting any information for the document name and user name associated with the print job. When the printer receives and prints the print data to which the password has been appended, the printer displays the user name and document name associated with the print job and performs printing in response to entry of the corresponding password by the user.

Claims

         12 . A printing control apparatus, comprising:
a designating unit configured to designate a secured print in which printing of print data is permitted if a password entered in an input screen of a printer matches a password of the print data; a display control unit configured to display a setting screen to enter user information and a password of print data after a print instruction of the print data is issued from an application; and a transmitting unit configured to transmit the print data for the secured print based on the user information and the password entered via the setting screen to the printer.

13 . The apparatus according to claim 12 , wherein the user information is a user name.

14 . The apparatus according to claim 12 , wherein the print data is printed by the printer if a user inputs the password of the print data via the input screen of the printer.

15 . The apparatus according to claim 12 , wherein the setting screen includes a cancel button for stopping print processing.

16 . The apparatus according to claim 12 , wherein the designation unit designates the secured print in accordance with an instruction input via a screen provided by a printer driver.

17 . The apparatus according to claim 12 , wherein the application issues the print instruction to a graphic engine.

18 . A control method of controlling a printing control apparatus, comprising:
designating a secured print in which printing of print data is permitted if a password entered in an input screen of a printer matches a password of the print data; displaying a setting screen to enter user information and a password of print data after a print instruction of the print data is issued from an application; and transmitting the print data for the secured print based on the user information and the password entered via the setting screen to the printer.

19 . The method according to claim 18 , wherein the user information is a user name.

20 . The method according to claim 18 , wherein the print data is printed by the printer if a user inputs the password of the print data via the input screen of the printer.

21 . The method according to claim 18 , wherein the setting screen includes a cancel button for stopping print processing.

22 . The method according to claim 18 , wherein the designating step designates the secured print in accordance with an instruction input via a screen provided by a printer driver.

23 . The method according to claim 18 , wherein the application issues the print instruction to a graphic engine.

24 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute a method, the method comprising:
designating a secured print in which printing of print data is permitted if a password entered in an input screen of a printer matches a password of the print data; displaying a setting screen to enter user information and a password of print data after a print instruction of the print data is issued from an application; and transmitting the print data for the secured print based on the user information and the password entered via the setting screen to the printer.

25 . The storage medium according to claim 24 , wherein the user information is a user name.

26 . The storage medium according to claim 24 , wherein the print data is printed by the printer if a user inputs the password of the print data via the input screen of the printer.

27 . The storage medium according to claim 24 , wherein the setting screen includes a cancel button for stopping print processing.

28 . The storage medium according to claim 24 , wherein the designating step designates the secured print in accordance with an instruction input via a screen provided by a printer driver.

29 . The storage medium according to claim 24 , wherein the application issues the print instruction to a graphic engine.

30 . A control method of controlling a printing control apparatus, comprising:
designating a secured print in which printing of print data is permitted if a password entered in an input screen of a printer matches a password of the print data; displaying a setting screen to enter document information and a password of print data after a print instruction of the print data is issued from an application; and transmitting the print data for the secured print based on the document information and the password entered via the setting screen to the printer.

31 . The method according to claim 30 , wherein the document information is a document name.

32 . The method according to claim 30 , wherein the application issues the print instruction to a graphic engine.

         33 . A printing control apparatus, comprising:
