Abstract

A computer network processor for managing information access, exchange, and interaction over a communications network has at least one input port for receiving input from the network, a first portion of memory for storing an operations framework, the framework supporting an information model including attributes and at least one communications system interface, a second portion of memory for caching information; and at least one interface to a at least one communications interface. The processor performs role-based task execution and related workflow based in part on defined attributes of the information model and in part on instruction solicited from a user through the at least one communications interface.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A federated system comprising:
a plurality of service sites coupled by one or a combination of data networks, each service site comprising one or more computerized appliances having processors executing software from a non-transitory medium, at least one data repository, and one or ports for receiving service requests from users and transmitting data; a configurable active information model (AIM) executable by a processor at each service site, the AIM defining at least trigger events, user roles, and executable active agents associated uniquely with the user roles; wherein the AIMs over all sites define agents, trigger events, user roles and executable active agents in a common and compatible manner, enabling any service site in the federated system to respond to a user request for service directed by a user to any one of the service sites.

2 . The federated system of claim 1 further comprising a harmonizer appliance at each service site such that communication and data exchange between users and the sites passes through and is managed by the harmonizer appliances.

3 . The federated service of claim 1 wherein, upon a user request being received, the user and the user's role is identified, and at least one active agent associated with the user and the user's role is launched to facilitate a service requested.

4 . The federate system of claim 3 wherein a service request received from a user by any one of the plurality of service sites is enabled to be shared, through function of the AIM, with individual ones or all of the service sites in the federation.

5 . The federated system of claim 4 wherein a service or a part of a service requested by a user is enabled to be provided to the user by any one of the service sites in the federation.

         6 . A method comprising:
 (a) instantiating a configurable active information model (AIM) executable by a processor of a computerized appliance at each of at least two service sites coupled by one or a combination of data networks and having at least one data repository and one or more ports for receiving service requests from users and transmitting data, the AIM defining at least trigger events, user roles, and executable active agents associated uniquely with the user roles in a compatible manner; and (b) operating the at least two service sites as a federated system, wherein any one of the two or more service sites in the system is enabled, through execution of the AIM, to respond to a user request for service

7 . The method of claim 6 further comprising a harmonizer appliance at each of the at least two service sites such that communication and data exchange between users and the sites passes through and is managed by the harmonizer appliances.

8 . The method of claim 6 wherein, upon a user request being received by one of the at least two service sites, the user and the user's role is identified, and at least one active agent associated with the user and the user's role is launched to facilitate a service requested.

9 . The method of claim 8 wherein a service request received from a user by any one of the two or more service sites is enabled to be shared, through function of the AIM, with individual ones or all of the service sites in the federation.

10 . The method of claim 9 wherein a service or a part of a service requested by a user is enabled to be provided to the user by any one of the service sites in the federation.
