Abstract

An image-pickup apparatus is disclosed which is capable of performing focus controls by plural AF methods and causing a user to confirm the focus control operation by each of the plural AF methods. The apparatus includes a controller which performs a first focus control and a second focus control by a method different from that of the first focus control, and an information output device which outputs information for causing a user to distinguish whether the first or second focus control is currently performed. The controller performs the second focus control after performing the first focus control, and the information output device outputs the information when the first focus control is performed and does not output the information when the second focus control is performed.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 6 . (canceled)

         7 . An image-pickup apparatus comprising:
an image-pickup element including a photoelectrical conversion element and a processing part, the photoelectrical conversion element configured to photoelectrically convert light from an object that has passed through an image-pickup optical system including a focus lens, the processing part configured to process a video image output from the photoelectrical conversion element; a recording unit configured to process a video signal output from the image-pickup element and to generate a signal suitable for a recording; a controller configured to select and perform one of a first focus control and a second focus control, the first focus control being performed by a method in which a phase difference of a pair of images formed by a luminous flux from the image-pickup optical system is acquired and then an in-focus position of the focus lens is acquired on the basis of the phase difference, and the second focus control being performed by a method in which a focus evaluation value signal is generated from the video signal generated by using the image-pickup element and then an in-focus position of the focus lens is acquired on the basis of the focus evaluation value signal; and an information output device configured to output information, wherein, in a focusing control of moving the focus lens to an in-focus position acquired by the second focus control after the focus lens is moved to an in-focus position acquired by the first focus control,
when the focus lens is moved to the in-focus position acquired by the first focus control, the information output device outputs information of causing a user to distinguish that the focus lens is moved by the first focus control, and
when the focus lens is moved to the in-focus position acquired by the second focus control, the information output device does not output information of causing the user to distinguish that the focus lens is moved by the second focus control, and
wherein, in an image display mode of not generating a signal suitable for the recording of the recording unit, the information output device outputs the information of causing the user to distinguish that the focus lens moved by the first focus control.

8 . The image-pickup apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the information output device displays the information on a display.

9 . The image-pickup apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the first focus control detects an object distance and acquires an in-focus position of the focus lens based on the object distance and focus distance information of the image-pickup optical system.

10 . The image-pickup apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the in-focus position acquired by the first focus control is a position near the in-focus position acquired by the second focus control.

11 . A control method for an image-pickup apparatus including an image-pickup element including a photoelectrical conversion element and a processing part, and a recording unit configured to process a video signal output from the image-pickup element and to generate a signal suitable for a recording, the photoelectrical conversion element configured to photoelectrically convert light from an object that has passed through an image-pickup optical system including a focus lens, the processing part configured to process a video image output from the photoelectrical conversion element, the control method comprising:
performing a first focus control in which a phase difference of a pair of images formed by a luminous flux from the image-pickup optical system is acquired and then an in-focus position of the focus lens is acquired on the basis of the phase difference; performing a second focus control in which a focus evaluation value signal is generated from the video signal generated by using the image-pickup element and then an in-focus position of the focus lens is acquired on the basis of the focus evaluation value signal; and outputting information, wherein, in a focusing control of moving the focus lens to an in-focus position acquired by the second focus control after the focus lens is moved to an in-focus position acquired by the first focus control,
when the focus lens is moved to the in-focus position acquired by the first focus control, information of causing a user to distinguish that the focus lens is moved by the first focus control is output, and
when the focus lens is moved to the in-focus position acquired by the second focus control, information of causing the user to distinguish that the focus lens is moved by the second focus control is not output, and
wherein the information of causing the user to distinguish that the focus lens moved by the first focus control is output in an image display mode of not generating a signal suitable for the recording of the recording unit.
