Collapsible floral plaque for casket and/or headstone and methods of production and use thereof

Abstract

A collapsible plaque for holding floral objects and methods of production and use thereof are disclosed. The collapsible plaque may be used with a casket and/or headstone for display of a floral object thereon.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method of using a collapsible floral plaque with at least one of a casket and a headstone, the collapsible floral plaque comprising a first leg member, a second leg member, and a support member, wherein the first leg member and the second leg member are not attached to the support member in the collapsed position, the support member having a first flexible lip member defining a first retaining area and a second flexible lip member defining a second retaining area, the method comprising the steps of:
 positioning the first leg member in the first retaining area of the support member and the second leg member in the second retaining area of the support member, whereby the floral plaque is capable of being supported on a support surface following positioning of the first and second leg members in the retaining areas thereof;   disposing a floral grouping on the support member of the floral plaque; and   disposing the floral plaque having the floral grouping thereon on at least one of the casket and headstone for display of the floral grouping thereon.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the step of positioning the first leg member in the first retaining area and positioning the second leg member in the second retaining area further comprises:
 moving a distal end of the first lip member away from the support member to permit a portion of the first leg member to be positioned into the first retaining area; and   moving a distal end of the second lip member away from the support member to permit a portion of the second leg member to be positioned into the second retaining area.   
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the first flexible lip member further defines a third retaining area and the second flexible lip member further defines a fourth retaining area and wherein the positioning step is further defined to comprise:
 positioning a first portion of the first leg member in the first retaining area and a second portion of the first leg member in the third retaining area; and   positioning a first portion of the second leg member in the second retaining area and a second portion of the second leg member in the fourth retaining area.   
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein each of the first and second flexible lip members include a central member, a first slit member positioned on one side of the central member, and a second slit member positioned on an opposing side of the central member so as to cooperate to define the first retaining area of the first flexible lip member and the second retaining area of the second flexible lip member, and wherein the positioning step further comprises:
 moving the first slit member and the second slit member of the first flexible lip member in one direction and the central member of the first flexible lip member in an opposing direction to permit the first leg member to be positioned in the first retaining area; and   moving the first slit member and the second slit member of the second flexible lip member in an opposing direction to permit the second leg member to be positioned in the second retaining area.   
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the first leg member and the second leg member are positioned in the retaining areas of the support member so as to be detachably connected thereto. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5 , further comprising the steps of:
 removing the floral grouping from the floral plaque; and   collapsing the floral plaque by detaching the first leg member and the second leg member from the support member by removing the first leg member from the first retaining area and removing the second leg member from the second retaining area.   
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein the first leg member and the second leg member are detached from the support member by:
 moving a distal end of the first lip member away from the support member to permit the first leg member to be removed from the first retaining area; and   moving a distal end of the second lip member away from the support member to permit the second leg member to be removed from the second retaining area.   
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the step of disposing the floral plaque on at least one of a casket and headstone is further defined as positioning the first leg member and the second leg member about a portion of at least one of a casket and a headstone such that the first end and the second end of the first leg member are positioned on opposing sides of the casket or headstone and the first end and the second end of the second leg member are positioned on opposing sides of the casket or headstone, thereby supporting the support member on the casket or headstone. 
     
     
         9 . A method of using a collapsible floral plaque with at least one of a casket and a headstone, the collapsible floral plaque having a collapsed position and an expanded position and comprising a first leg member, a second leg member, and a support member, the support member having a first lip member defining a first retaining area and a second lip member defining a second retaining area, the first leg member having a portion thereof disposed in the first retaining area in the collapsed position so that the first leg member may rotate between the collapsed and expanded positions, and the second leg member having a portion thereof disposed in the second retaining area in the collapsed position so that the second leg member may rotate between the collapsed and expanded positions, the method comprising the steps of:
 moving the first and second leg members from the collapsed position to the expanded position, whereby the floral plaque is capable of being supported on a support surface;   disposing a floral grouping on the support member of the floral plaque; and   disposing the floral plaque having the floral grouping thereon on at least one of the casket and headstone for display of the floral grouping thereon.   
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the first flexible lip member of the support member further defines a third retaining area and the second flexible lip member of the support member further defines a fourth retaining area, wherein a portion of the first leg is disposed in the third retaining area in the collapsed position and allows the first leg member to rotate between the collapsed and expanded positions, and wherein a portion of the second leg member is disposed in the fourth retaining area in the collapsed position and allows the second leg member to rotate between the collapsed and expanded positions.
