Multimedia Sunshade

Abstract

A multimedia sunshade apparatus for shading a chair has one or more support arms that are adjustably coupled to a chair at one end and a shade at another end. The shade is configured to display one or more media messages such as advertisements on both the inner and outer surfaces of the shade. The media messages can be displayed in a variety of forms, including direct printing, a detachable substrate, or an electronic display. The multimedia sunshade can also be fit with a unique universal adapter that allows the multimedia sunshade to be easily fit to a variety of existing chairs.

What is claimed: 
     
         1 . A sunshade apparatus for attachment to a chair having a frame member, the sunshade apparatus comprising:
 a support arm having a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end coupled to the frame member;   a shade coupled to the distal end of the support arm, the shade having an inner surface that faces the chair and an opposing outer surface; and   an electronic display screen.   
     
     
         2 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the electronic display screen is coupled to the support arm. 
     
     
         3 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the electronic display is coupled to the shade. 
     
     
         4 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the electronic display screen is positioned proximal to the inner surface of the shade. 
     
     
         5 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 4 , wherein the electronic display screen is substantially coplanar with the shade. 
     
     
         6 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 4 , wherein the electronic display screen is substantially perpendicular with the shade. 
     
     
         7 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 1 , further comprising a processor in communication with the electronic display screen. 
     
     
         8 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 7 , further comprising an input device in communication with the processor, whereby a user can input a command to the processor. 
     
     
         9 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 8 , wherein the processor is configured to identify the command from the input device and perform a corresponding operation. 
     
     
         10 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 9 , wherein the electronic display screen is configured to be in communication with a network capable of sending and receiving data in response to the input command. 
     
     
         11 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 10 , wherein the operation comprises sending a signal to a receiver that identifies the location of the sunshade apparatus. 
     
     
         12 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 10 , wherein the operation is communicating an order for a drink. 
     
     
         13 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 10 , wherein the operation is communicating an order for food. 
     
     
         14 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 10 , wherein the operation is communicating a request for a reservation. 
     
     
         15 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 10 , wherein the operation is playing a game. 
     
     
         16 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 10 , wherein the operation is playing a casino style wagering game. 
     
     
         17 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 10 , wherein the operation is selected from the group consisting of: displaying a movie on the electronic display screen, displaying cable television programming on the electronic display screen, or displaying satellite television programming in the electronic display screen. 
     
     
         18 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 10 , wherein the operation is browsing the World Wide Web on the Internet. 
     
     
         19 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 10 , wherein the operation is receiving payment of money from the user. 
     
     
         20 . The sunshade apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising a second electronic display screen positioned proximal to the outer surface of the shade.
