System and method for product review information generation and management

Abstract

A computer-implemented system and method for product review information generation and management are disclosed. An example embodiment prompts a first user for entry of product review information associated with a product in a product category and with product attributes, stores the product review information, determines when a second user accesses product listings in the product category or with one or more of the product attributes, and presents the second user with the product review information.

1 . An apparatus for providing a product review, the apparatus comprising:
 a processor;   memory to store instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:   prompt a seller for entry of product item information associated with a product item offered for sale in a product category and with specific product attributes;   prompt the seller for entry of product review information associated with the product category;   store the product review information;   identify related product listings that substantially match one or more of the product category and the specific product attributes;   associate the product review information with one or more of the related product listings;   present, by use of a hardware device, at least a portion of the product review information to a user in response to the user accessing one or more of the related product listings.   
     
     
         2 . The apparatus as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the presented product review information includes information related to the seller. 
     
     
         3 . The apparatus as claimed in  claim 2 , wherein the information related to the seller comprises one or more of profile information, demographic information, location information, and seller affiliation information. 
     
     
         4 . The apparatus as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the presented product review information further comprises product review information related to an instance of the product item offered for sale. 
     
     
         5 . A method for providing a product review, comprising:
 prompting a seller for entry of product item information associated with a product item offered for sale in a product category and with specific product attributes;   prompting the seller for entry of product review information associated with the product category;   storing the product review information;   identifying related product listings that substantially match one or more of the product category and the specific product attributes;   associating the product review information with one or more of the related product listings;   presenting, by use of a hardware device, at least a portion of the product review information to a user in response to the user accessing one or more of the related product listings.   
     
     
         6 . The method as claimed in  claim 4 , wherein the presented product review information includes information related to the seller. 
     
     
         7 . The method as claimed in  claim 5 , wherein the information related to the seller comprises one or more of profile information, demographic information, location information, and seller affiliation information. 
     
     
         8 . The method as claimed in  claim 4 , wherein the presented product review information further comprises product review information related to an instance of the product item offered for sale. 
     
     
         9 . An article of manufacture comprising a non-transitory machine-readable storage medium having machine executable instructions embedded thereon, which when executed by a machine, cause the machine to:
 prompt a seller for entry of product item information associated with a product item offered for sale in a product category and with specific product attributes;   prompt the seller for entry of product review information associated with the product category;   store the product review information;   identify related product listings that substantially match one or more of the product category and the specific product attributes;   associate the product review information with one or more of the related product listings;   present, by use of a hardware device, at least a portion of the product review information to a user in response to the user accessing one or more of the related product listings.   
     
     
         10 . The article of manufacture as claimed in  claim 8 , wherein the presented product review information includes information related to the seller. 
     
     
         11 . The article of manufacture as claimed in  claim 9 , wherein the information related to the seller comprises one or more of profile information, demographic information, location information, and seller affiliation information. 
     
     
         12 . The article of manufacture as claimed in  claim 8 , wherein the presented product review information further comprises product review information related to an instance of the product item offered for sale.
