Abstract

An access device receives content from a broadband IP network to be communicated to a wireless handset over a radio access network (RAN). The access device acquires a user profile utilized in the radio network for the wireless handset. Based on the acquired user profile, the access device determines transmission parameters utilized for communicating the received content to the wireless handset using an air interface protocol over the radio access network. A security level and/or a security protocol, a transcoding mechanism, and/or transmission bit rate are determined based on the acquired user profile. A resolution, transmission bit rate, coding structure, security protocol and/or security level for transmitting the received content to the wireless handset are adjusted based on the acquired user profile. Alternately, the access device is enabled to receive content from the wireless handset using a transmission profile determined Lased on user profile of the wireless handset.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A method transmitting content from a wireless device to an access device, comprising:
 receiving a request to transmit content from the wireless device; acquiring a user profile associated with the wireless device; generating a transmission profile by evaluating the user profile associated with the wireless device, wherein the transmission profile is configured to be used by the wireless device to transmit the content to the access device; and receiving the content from the wireless device.

         2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein evaluating the user profile includes determining a format for the content.

         3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the transmission profile includes a transmission parameter.

         4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising adjusting the transmission parameter while receiving the content from the wireless device.

         5 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the transmission parameter comprises a security level, a supported security protocol, a resolution, a color depth, a frame rate, a compression level, a sample rate, a coding structure, a compression format, a power consumption level, or a remaining battery life of the wireless device.

         6 . The method of claim I, wherein the user profile comprises device power consumption information.

         7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising assigning the transmission profile to the wireless device.

         8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining a transmission bit rate for transmitting content from the wireless device to the access device,

         9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the transmission bit rate is determined based on a required power consumption level for the wireless device.

         10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the transmission bit rate is additionally determined based on a remaining battery life of the wireless device.

         11 . An access device configured to communicate with a wireless device, comprising:
 a wireless transceiver configured to communicate with the wireless device; a memory; and one or more processors configured to
 receive a request to transmit content from the wireless device;
 acquire a user profile associated with the wireless device;
 generate a transmission profile by evaluating the user profile associated with the wireless device, wherein the transmission profile is configured to be used by the Wireless device to transmit the content to the access device; and
 receive the content from the wireless device.

         12 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to evaluate the user profile by determining a format for the content.

         13 . The device of claim 11 wherein the transmission profile includes a transmission parameter.

         14 . The device of claim 13 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to adjust the transmission parameter while receiving the content from the wireless device.

         15 . The device of claim 13 , wherein the transmission parameter comprises a security level, a supported security protocol, a resolution, a color depth, a frame rate, a compression level, a sample rate, a coding structure, a compression format, a power consumption level, or a remaining battery life of the wireless device.

         16 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the user profile comprises device power consumption information.

         17 . The device of claim 11 e wherein the one or more processors are configured to assign the transmission profile to the wireless device.

         18 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to determine a transmission bit rate for transmitting content from the wireless device to the access device.

         19 . The device of claim 18 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to determine the transmission bit rate based on a required power consumption level for the wireless device.

         20 . The device of claim 19 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to determine the transmission bit rate additionally based on a remaining battery life of the wireless device.
