Abstract

The present invention provides multi-directional oscillation from a rotational source, by receiving a rotational motion, converting the rotational motion to a first oscillating motion, converting the first oscillating motion to a second oscillating motion that is normal to the first oscillating motion and transferring the first oscillating motion and the second oscillating motion to a working element.

         15 . A removable rotary power tool attachment, comprising:
 a housing for attaching the attachment to a rotary power tool;   a first oscillating motion system for producing a first oscillating motion of a shaft from a rotary motion of the rotary power tool; and   a second oscillating motion system for producing a second oscillating motion from the first oscillating motion of the shaft, comprising:
 a linear bearing with a first ramp, the linear bearing receiving the first oscillating motion from the shaft and disposed to move along the shaft; and 
 a multi-oscillation generating ramp disposed relative to the first ramp so that the first oscillating motion of the linear bearing cause the first ramp to interact with the multi-oscillating ramp resulting in the linear bearing moving along the shaft in a second oscillating motion. 
   
     
     
         16 . The removable rotary power tool attachment of  claim 15 , further including a blade mount for receiving at least the first oscillating motion, wherein the blade mount facilitates attaching a working element to the removable rotary power tool attachment in plurality of positions. 
     
     
         17 . The removable rotary power tool attachment of  claim 16 , wherein the plurality of positions includes attaching a working element in at least 45 degrees increments. 
     
     
         18 . The removable rotary power tool attachment of  claim 16 , wherein the oscillating working element is selected from the group consisting of a cutting element and a sanding element. 
     
     
         19 . The removable rotary power tool attachment of  claim 15 , wherein the attachment for a rotary power tool is further configured with a universal threaded aftermarket device mounting screw. 
     
     
         20 . The removable rotary power tool attachment of  claim 15 , wherein the rotary power tool is a handle that converts air from a pneumatic source into a spinning motion of a tip and wherein the spinning motion of the tip is the rotary motion for producing a first oscillating motion. 
     
     
         21 . A handle for receiving air through an air tube from a pneumatic source and configured to interface to a removable attachment facility to produce first and second oscillating motions, comprising:
 a body for encasing the handle;   a trigger accessible on the outside of the body for opening an airway into the handle wherein air received through the air tube is converted to spinning action of a tip of the handle;   a first oscillating motion system of the removable attachment facility for producing a first oscillating motion of a shaft from the spinning tip; and   a second oscillating motion system for producing a second oscillating motion from the first oscillating motion of the shaft, comprising:
 a linear bearing with a first ramp, the linear bearing receiving the first oscillating motion from the shaft and disposed to move along the shaft; and 
 a multi-oscillation generating ramp disposed relative to the first ramp so that the first oscillating motion of the linear bearing cause the first ramp to interact with the multi-oscillating ramp resulting in the linear bearing moving along the shaft in a second oscillating motion. 
   
     
     
         22 . The handle of  claim 21 , further including a blade mount for receiving at least the first oscillating motion, wherein the blade mount facilitates attaching a working element to the removable rotary power tool attachment in plurality of positions. 
     
     
         23 . The handle of  claim 22 , wherein the plurality of positions includes attaching a working element in at least 45 degrees increments. 
     
     
         24 . A method of producing multi-dimensional oscillation from a removable rotary power tool attachment, comprising:
 attaching the attachment to a rotary power tool to receive a rotational motion;   converting the rotational motion to a first oscillating motion about an axis;   converting the first oscillating motion to a second oscillating motion axially along the axis, wherein converting the first oscillating motion to the second oscillating motion is accomplished by moving a working element coupling along a longitudinal axis of a shaft, the shaft transferring the first oscillating motion about its longitudinal axis to the working element coupling, the working element coupling being moved by an interaction of a first ramp of the working element coupling and a second ramp, the second ramp disposed to interact with the first ramp first oscillating motion to cause the second oscillating motion; and   facilitating application of at least one of the first oscillating motion and the second oscillating motion to a working element.
