An apparatus for the rail mounted carrying out of works at a railway track or for a railway track such as earthworks, rail works, sleeper laying, overhead line works and signal works, sleeper replacement and the like, wherein the devices ( 7 - 12 ) for carrying out the works form a transport unit ( 15 ) or are accommodated in a transport unit; and wherein the transport unit ( 15 ) can be releasably fastened to a rail vehicle ( 1 ).

. An apparatus in accordance in accordance with claim 11 , wherein the rail vehicle ( 1 ) is a railroad car.

. An apparatus in accordance with claim 11 , wherein at least some of the devices ( 7 - 12 ) can be adjusted between a transport position and a work position.

. An apparatus in accordance with claim 11 , wherein the dimensions of the transport unit ( 15 ) are limited to standard container dimensions, at least in its transport position.

. An apparatus in accordance with claim 14 , wherein the standard container dimensions are maritime container dimensions.

. An apparatus in accordance with claim 11 , wherein the transport unit ( 15 ) itself is configured as a standard container.

. An apparatus in accordance with claim 11 , wherein the transport unit ( 15 ) itself is configured as a maritime container.

. An apparatus in accordance with claim 11 , wherein the transport unit ( 15 ) has a frame rack ( 4 ) which can be releasably fastened to the rail vehicle ( 1 ) and in which the work devices ( 7 - 12 ) are accommodated.

. An apparatus in accordance with claim 11 , wherein the transport unit ( 15 ) includes at least one of the following devices selected from the group comprising: lifting arms ( 7 ) provided with track roller claws, a rail adjustment device, a crane way ( 8 ), at least one sleeper lifting cylinder ( 10 , 12 ), a sleeper turning apparatus, a rail clamp control device, an operator's cab, a drive, control members for carrying out the works.

. An apparatus in accordance with claim 11 , the rail vehicle ( 1 ) has at least one device usable for the works in addition to the transport unit ( 15 ).

. An apparatus in accordance with claim 20 , wherein the device is a storage space ( 5 ).

. An apparatus in accordance with claim 11 , wherein the rail vehicle ( 1 ) is not modified or is only modified within the framework of its licensing conditions with respect to a normal rail vehicle.

. An apparatus in accordance with claim 11 , wherein the connection of the transport unit ( 15 ) to the rail vehicle ( 1 ) takes place by means of standard fasteners.

. An apparatus in accordance with claim 11 , wherein the transport unit ( 15 ) is releasably connected to a rail vehicle ( 1 ) which is coupled to one or more further rail vehicles.

. An apparatus in accordance with claim 24 , wherein the further rail vehicles can be selected from the group comprising railroad cars and railmounted drive apparatus.
