Directory device implementable electronic telephone directory

Abstract

A system for providing directory information is disclosed. The system includes a computer and a directory device connected to the computer. The directory device includes a memory storage device for storing directory information and telecommunications information obtained from the computer. The telecommunications services information includes information on establishing telephone service.

What is claimed: 
     
         1 . A server comprising:
 a processor; and   memory coupled to the processor, the memory comprising executable instructions that when executed by the processor cause the processor to effectuate operations comprising:
 receiving a connection request; 
 establishing a connection responsive to the connection request; 
 receiving, via the established connection, a request for:
 directory information; and 
 telecommunications services information comprising:
 information for establishing telephone service; 
 billing information; 
 repair information; and 
 operator services information; and 
 
 
 providing, via the established connection, the directory information and the telecommunications service information. 
   
     
     
         2 . The server of  claim 1 , wherein the request for directory information and telecommunications service information comprises a universal resource locator address of a page comprising directory information and telecommunications service information. 
     
     
         3 . The server of  claim 1 , wherein the connection request comprises a dialed access number. 
     
     
         4 . The server of  claim 1 , the operations further comprising:
 compressing the directory information prior to providing the directory information; and   compressing the telecommunications services information prior to providing the telecommunications services information.   
     
     
         5 . The server of  claim 1 , wherein the directory information and the telecommunications services information are stored in the memory. 
     
     
         6 . The server of  claim 1 , the operations further comprising:
 responsive to receiving the request for directory information and telecommunications services information, obtaining directory information and telecommunications services information; and   updating directory information and telecommunications services information stored in the memory with the obtained directory information and telecommunications services information.   
     
     
         7 . The server of  claim 1 , wherein the server comprises a network server of a wireless network. 
     
     
         8 . A method comprising:
 receiving a connection request;   establishing a connection responsive to the connection request;   receiving, by a server, via the established connection, a request for:
 directory information; and 
 telecommunications services information comprising information for establishing telephone service, billing information, repair information, and operator services information; and 
   providing, by the server, via the established connection, the directory information and the telecommunications service information.   
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the request for directory information and telecommunications service information comprises a universal resource locator address of a page comprising directory information and telecommunications service information. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the connection request comprises a dialed access number. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 8 , further comprising:
 compressing the directory information prior to providing the directory information; and   compressing the telecommunications services information prior to providing the telecommunications services information.   
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the directory information and the telecommunications services information are stored in memory of the server. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 8 , further comprising:
 responsive to receiving the request for directory information and telecommunications services information, obtaining directory information and telecommunications services information; and   updating directory information and telecommunications services information stored in memory of the server with the obtained directory information and telecommunications services information.   
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the server comprises a network server of a wireless network. 
     
     
         15 . A computer readable storage medium that is not a propagating signal, the computer readable storage medium comprising executable instructions that when executed by a processor cause the processor to effectuate operations comprising:
 receiving a connection request;   establishing a connection responsive to the connection request;   receiving, via the established connection, a request for:
 directory information; and 
 telecommunications services information comprising information for establishing telephone service, billing information, repair information, and operator services information; and 
   providing, via the established connection, the directory information and the telecommunications service information.

The computer readable storage medium of  claim 15 , wherein the request for directory information and telecommunications service information comprises a universal resource locator address of a page comprising directory information and telecommunications service information. 
     
     
         17 . The computer readable storage medium of  claim 15 , wherein the connection request comprises a dialed access number. 
     
     
         18 . The computer readable storage medium of  claim 15 , the operations further comprising:
 compressing the directory information prior to providing the directory information; and   compressing the telecommunications services information prior to providing the telecommunications services information.   
     
     
         19 . The computer readable storage medium of  claim 15 , further comprising the directory information and the telecommunications services information. 
     
     
         20 . The computer readable storage medium of  claim 15 , the operations further comprising:
 responsive to receiving the request for directory information and telecommunications services information, obtaining directory information and telecommunications services information; and   updating directory information and telecommunications services information stored in the memory with the obtained directory information and telecommunications services information.
