Abstract

An airport advertising system includes a backing securely installed adjacent to an airport runway or taxiway, a plurality of base fibers secured to the backing, and a plurality of advertisement forming fibers secured to the backing so as to visually define at least a portion of an airport advertisement.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
The invention is claimed as follows:

1 . An airport advertising system comprising:
a backing securely installed adjacent to an airport runway or taxiway; a plurality of base fibers secured to the backing; and a plurality of advertisement forming fibers secured to the backing so as to visually define at least a portion of an airport advertisement.

2 . The airport advertising system of claim 1 , wherein the base fibers and the advertisement forming fibers have different pigmentation.

3 . The airport advertising system of claim 1 , wherein the backing includes a first backing section securing the base fibers, the first backing section attached to a second backing section.

4 . The airport advertising system of claim 1 , which includes a base beneath the backing, the base selected from the group consisting of rock, crushed rock, concrete, and combinations thereof.

5 . The airport advertising system of claim 4 , wherein at least a portion of the backing is located under the base so that the weight of the base material securely installs the backing adjacent to the runway or taxiway.

6 . The airport advertising system of claim 4 , which includes a plurality of pinning devices mechanically securing the backing to the base.

7 . The airport advertising system of claim 1 , wherein the backing is mechanically installed adjacent to the runway or taxiway.

8 . The airport advertising system of claim 1 , wherein the backing is adhesively installed adjacent to the airport runway or taxiway.

9 . The airport advertising system of claim 1 , which includes a support member located adjacent a sidewall of the runway or taxiway, the backing mechanically and/or adhesively secured to the support member.

10 . The airport advertising turf system of claim 9 , wherein the support member is secured to the sidewall of the runway or taxiway.

11 . The airport advertising turf system of claim 1 , the advertisement forming fibers first marking fibers and which includes a plurality of second advertisement forming fibers secured to the backing so as to visually define a second portion of the airport advertisement.

12 . The airport advertising system of claim 1 , which includes at least one concrete mounting anchor, the backing secured to the at least one mounting anchor.

13 . The airport advertising system of claim 1 , wherein the airport advertisement is selected from the group consisting of: indicia, logos, symbols, characters and combinations thereof.

14 . An airport advertising system comprising:
a base located in a runway or taxiway area of an airport; a backing securely installed adjacent to the base; a plurality of base fibers secured to the backing; and a plurality of advertisement forming fibers secured to the backing, wherein the advertisement fibers are visually different from the base fibers.

15 . The airport advertising system of claim 14 , wherein the base is configured to support the weight of an airplane or aircraft.

16 . The airport advertising system of claim 14 , wherein the base is located directly adjacent the runway or taxiway.

17 . The airport advertising system of claim 14 , wherein the base fibers and the advertisement forming fibers have different pigmentation.

18 . The airport advertising system of claim 14 , wherein the backing is mechanically and/or adhesively secured to the base.

19 . A method of producing airport artificial turf with advertising comprising:
placing a stencil on top of a plurality of base fibers secured to a backing so as to cause a plurality of advertising fibers to protrude from the stencil; and painting the plurality of advertisement forming fibers protruding from the stencil at least one color different from the color of the plurality of base fibers to produce at least a portion of an airport advertisement.

20 . The method of producing airport artificial turf of claim 19 , which includes disallowing the paint from contacting the plurality of base fibers.

21 . The method of producing airport artificial turf of claim 19 , wherein painting includes spraying the plurality of advertisement fibers.

22 . A method of producing airport artificial turf with advertising comprising:
cutting or stamping a first turf piece from a first turf section having a plurality of colored fibers for showing advertising; cutting or stamping a second turf piece from a second turf section having a plurality of base colored fibers, the second turf piece defining a shape having smaller dimensions than the first turf piece; registering the first turf piece with the second turf piece; and stitching the first turf piece to the second turf piece.
