Claims

Abstract

The invention relates to a device providing assistance in the working of pipes, including: a plate ( 5 ) having an internal cavity and comprising parts ( 13 A, 13 B, 13 C) assembled together such that they can pivot to occupy a closed position in which they are joined to form a ring; and a plate locking device. The adjacent ends of two plates ( 13 A, 13 B, 13 C) include corresponding surfaces that are shaped to cooperate and establish a connection as the plate ( 5 ) moves into the closed position. Each connection comprises two complementary surfaces ( 37 ) that come into contact with one another in the closed plate position. The locking device comprises at least one catch which can be actuated in said position and which acts on the adjacent ends of the plates ( 13 A, 13 B, 13 C) in order to clamp the complementary contact surface against one another.

1 . Device for assisting with the working of tubes, comprising:
 a flange ( 5 ) recessed on the inside, comprising a set of plates ( 13 A,  13 B,  13 C) joined together with the ability to move relative to one another in a common plane, up to a closed position of the flange ( 5 ) in which the plates are joined to form a crown;   a locking device for the flange;   characterised in that   the adjacent ends of two plates have mating surfaces forming a connection by positive locking, this connection being active in the vicinity of the closed position of the flange ( 5 );   each positively locking connection comprises two complementary surfaces ( 37 ) coming into mutual contact in the closed position of the flange;   the locking device comprises at least one latch that can be actuated in this closed position, each latch acting on the adjacent ends of the plates to clamp their complementary contact surfaces against one another.   
     
     
         2 . Device according to  claim 1 , wherein each plate ( 13 A,  13 B,  13 C) comprises at its ends reinforcing structures ( 31 ), the mating surfaces forming a positively locking connection being located in each case on the reinforcing structures ( 31 ) located at the adjacent ends of two plates. 
     
     
         3 . Device according to  claim 2 , wherein each plate further comprises an additional reinforcing structure ( 32 ) connecting the reinforcing structures ( 31 ) provided at its ends. 
     
     
         4 . Device according to  claim 3 , wherein the said plates ( 13 A,  13 B,  13 C) are shaped so as to extend along a closed contour in the locking position of said flange ( 5 ), each additional reinforcing structure extending lengthwise along a portion of said closed contour. 
     
     
         5 . Device according to  claim 1 , wherein the said plates ( 13 A,  13 B,  13 C) are shaped so as to form a crown in the closed position of said flange ( 5 ), each of the mutual contact surfaces ( 37 ) being located in a substantially radial plane. 
     
     
         6 . Device according to  claim 1 , wherein each positively locking joint further comprises two adjacent surfaces ( 35 ) each with a mutual contact surface, each adjacent surface ( 35 ) being oriented relative to its neighbouring contact surface so as to prevent any surface interference with the opening/closing of the flange ( 5 ). 
     
     
         7 . Device according to  claim 5 , wherein one plate end is drilled with a passage ( 41 ) corresponding to a recess ( 41 ) drilled at the adjacent end of a neighbouring plate, and the latch comprises a pin ( 43 ) inscribed in the cross-section of the passage ( 41 ) in which it slides in order to engage in the recess ( 41 ). 
     
     
         8 . Device according to  claim 7 , wherein the passage ( 41 ) and the recess ( 41 ) are offset relative to each other so as to force the mating contact surfaces ( 37 ) to abut on one another when the latch is actuated. 
     
     
         9 . Device according to  claim 2 , wherein the plates ( 13 A,  13 B,  13 C) each comprise a reinforcing structure ( 29 A,  29 B,  29 C) disposed at an inner edge of said plates. 
     
     
         10 . Device according to  claim 1 , wherein the flange ( 5 ) comprises three plates ( 13 A,  13 B,  13 C) which may be joined to form the said crown. 
     
     
         11 . Device according to  claim 1 , wherein the plates jointly support a set of actuators ( 9 ) adapted to hold a tube.
