Abstract

A band or frame for wearing on a person's head, as for example eyewear, is provided with a frame that has an inner frame member that is slidable relative to an outer frame element for stiffness or sizing adjustment of the band.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A head-wearable frame, comprising:
 an outer u-shaped frame member of a first stiffness having formed thereon one of a channel or an element receivable in said channel; an inner flexible u-shaped frame member with a second stiffness different than that of said first stiffness, having the other of said channel or element receivable in said channel formed thereon; said inner and outer members being joined together in a sliding engagement with said element received in said channel, said flexible member being movable relative to said outer frame member to adjust stiffness of the frame.

         2 . Eyewear, comprising:
 a frame adapted to be secured to a wearer's head; an outer substantially rigid curved frame member having formed thereon one of a channel or an element receivable in said channel; an inner flexible curved frame member having the other of said channel or element receivable in said channel formed thereon; said inner and outer members being joined together in a sliding engagement with said element received in said channel, said flexible member being movable relative to said outer frame member to adjust fitting of the frame; and at least one lens element mounted to said frame.

         3 . The eyewear of  claim 2 , further including a camera mounted to said frame;
 a power source for said camera; and a storage device configured to store digital images taken by said camera.

         4 . The eyewear of claim 3 , further including a computing system carried by said frame, said computing system comprising said storage device.

         5 . The eyewear of claim 2 , further including a video projector mounted to said frame and used to project images upon the inside of a lens mounted within said frame.

         6 . A head-wearable frame, comprising:
 an outer frame member; an inner frame member; said inner and outer members being joined together with a mechanism that engages said inner and outer members in a sliding engagement to thereby adjust stiffness of the frame.

         7 . The frame of claim 6 , wherein said outer frame member has formed thereon one of a channel or an element receivable in said channel, and the other of said channel or element receivable in said channel is formed on said inner frame member, with said element received in said channel to join said frame members.

         8 . The frame of claim 7 , wherein said a frame has an outer rigid u-shaped frame member having formed thereon an elongated channel along an inboard side, and an inner flexible u-shaped frame member having an elongated element formed on an outboard side receivable in said channel,
 said inner and outer members being joined together in a sliding engagement with said element received in said channel, said flexible member being movable relative to said outer frame member to thereby adjust fitting of the frame on a person's head.

         9 . The frame of claim 8 , further including at least one lens element mounted to said frame.

         10 . The frame of claim 1 , further including a fixation device adjustably and releasably engaging said frame members in an adjusted position.

         11 . The eyewear of claim 2 , further including a fixation device adjustably and releasably engaging said frame members in an adjusted position.

         12 . The frame of claim 6 , further including a fixation device adjustably and releasably engaging said frame members in an adjusted position.

         13 . The frame of  claim 9 , further including a camera mounted to said frame;
 a power source for said camera; and a storage device configured to store digital images taken by said camera.

         14 . The frame of claim 13 , further including a computing system carried by said frame, said computing system comprising said storage device.

         15 . The frame of claim 14 , further including a video projector mounted to said frame and used to project images upon the inside of a lens mounted within said frame.

         16 . The frame of claim 1 , wherein said channel and element are a dovetail arrangement.

         17 . The eyewear of claim 2 , wherein said channel and element are a dovetail arrangement.

         18 . The frame of claim 7 , wherein said channel and element are a dovetail arrangement.

         19 . The frame of claim 6 , wherein said frame members are each of generally the same stiffness.

         20 . The frame of claim 6 , wherein said frame members are of different stiffness relative to each other.

         21 . A head-wearable frame, comprising:
 an outer frame member; an inner frame member; a mechanism joining said inner and outer frame members in a sliding engagement.

         22 . The frame of claim 21 , wherein said frame members are made so as to be of different stiffness relative to each other, and providing an ability to adjust a stiffness or size of the frame.

         23 . The frame of claim 21 , wherein said frame members are made so as to be of generally the same stiffness relative to each other, and providing an ability to adjust a stiffness or size of the frame.

         24 . The frame of claim 21 , further including a fixation device adjustably and releasably engaging said frame members in a position.
