Shoelace Wings

Abstract

A pair of shoelace wings are united to each other form a keeper that covers the knot of a shoelace, thereby inhibiting the shoelace from becoming untied, as well as presenting a neat appearance. The device has a right-side wing with a plurality of holes for receiving the shoelaces, and a left-side wing having a plurality of holes for receiving shoelaces. The wings are held in place against the shoe by the cross-lacing of the shoelace. The left wing and the right wing are folded relative to each other, and over the knot, and are held together and in position such as by hook and loop material. The shoelace wings may also cover the shoelaces when the shoelace wings are connected to each other.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A pair of shoelace wings, comprising:
 a right side wing formed of a flexible material and having a plurality of holes formed between a center line of the right side wing and an inner edge of the right side wing, the plurality of holes constructed and arranged to receive a shoelace, the right side wing having one part of hook and loop material on a surface thereof,   a left side wing that is separate from the right side wing, the left side wing formed of a flexible material and having a plurality of holes formed between a center line of the left side wing and an inner edge of the left side wing, the plurality of holes of the left side wing constructed and arranged to receive the shoelace, the left side wing having a part of hook and loop material on a surface thereof that is attachable by hook and loop attachment to the one part of hook and loop material that is on the surface of the right side wing,   wherein the right side wing is foldable over the shoelace and the left side wing is foldable over the shoelace and the one part of the hook and look material that is present on the surface of the right side wing is attached by hook and loop attachment to the part of the hook and loop material that is present on the surface of the left side wing and the attached portions of the left side wing and the right side wing are positioned over a knot that is present in the shoelace.   
     
     
         2 . A pair of shoelace wings, comprising:
 a right side wing formed of a flexible material and having a plurality of holes formed between a center line of the right side wing and an inner edge of the right side wing, the plurality of holes constructed and arranged to receive a shoelace, the right side wing having one part of hook and loop material on a surface thereof;   a left side wing that is separate from the right side wing, the left side wing formed of a flexible material and having a plurality of holes formed between a center line of the left side wing and an inner edge of the left side wing, the plurality of holes of the left side wing constructed and arranged to receive the shoelace, the left side wing having a section of hook and loop material that is foldable relative to the left side wing, wherein the hook and loop material is foldable to connect a hook portion of the hook and loop material to a loop portion of the hook and loop material,   wherein the right side wing is foldable over the shoelace and the left side, wing is foldable over the shoelace and the one part of the hook and look material that is present on the surface of the right side wing is attached by hook and loop attachment to a portion of the hook and loop material that is present on the surface of the left side wing and the attached portions of the left side wing and the right side wing are positioned over a knot that is present in the shoelace.   
     
     
         3 . A shoelace keeper as described in  claim 1 , wherein the left side wing and the right side wing are connected only by the hook and loop material. 
     
     
         4 . A shoelace keeper as described in  claim 2 , wherein the left side wing and the right side wing are connected only by the hook and loop material. 
     
     
         5 . A shoelace keeper as described in  claim 1 , wherein the left side wing and the right side wing comprise not fewer than two holes formed in each of the left side wing and the right side wing for receiving the shoelace. 
     
     
         6 . A shoelace keeper as described in  claim 1 , wherein the left side wing and the right side wing comprise not fewer than two holes formed in each of the left side wing and the right side wing for receiving the shoelace. 
     
     
         7 . A shoelace keeper as described in  claim 1 , wherein the left side wing is wider than the right side wing. 
     
     
         8 . A shoelace keeper as described in  claim 2 , wherein the left side wing is wider than the right side wing. 
     
     
         9 . A shoelace keeper as described in  claim 1 , wherein an inner and upper corner of the right side wing is of reduced dimension from a remaining width of the right side wing and an inner and upper corner of the left side wing is of reduced dimension from a remaining width of the left side wing. 
     
     
         10 . A shoelace keeper as described in  claim 2 , wherein an inner and upper corner of the right side wing is of reduced dimension from a remaining width of the right side wing and an inner and upper corner of the left side wing is of reduced dimension from a remaining width of the left side wing. 
     
     
         11 . A shoelace keeper as described in  claim 1 , wherein the one part of hook and loop material that is on a surface of the right side wing is on a lower surface of the right side wing prior to folding the right side wing. 
     
     
         12 . A shoelace keeper as described in  claim 2 , wherein the one part of hook and loop material that is on a surface of the right side wing is on a lower surface of the right side wing prior to folding the right side wing. 
     
     
         13 . A shoelace keeper as described in  claim 1 , wherein the one part of hook and loop material that is on a surface of the right side wing is on a lower surface of the right side wing prior to folding the right side wing, and the section of hook and loop material that is foldable relative to the left side wing is on an upper surface of the left side wing prior to folding the left side wing. 
     
     
         14 . A shoelace keeper as described in  claim 2 , wherein the hook and loop material of the left side wing that is foldable relative to the left side wing, when folded completely covers the hook and loop material. 
     
     
         15 . A shoelace keeper as described in  claim 1 , wherein the left side wing and the right side wing, when connected by the hook and loop material, cover the shoelace. 
     
     
         16 . A shoelace keeper as described in  claim 2 , wherein the left side wing and the right side wing, when connected by the hook and loop material, cover the shoelace. 
     
     
         17 . A shoelace keeper as described in  claim 1 , wherein, in use, with a shoelace holding the left side wing and the right side wing in place relative to the shoe, and with the left side wing not connected to the right side wing, the left side wing may be moved independently from the right side wing. 
     
     
         18 . A shoelace keeper as described in  claim 2 , wherein, in use, with a shoelace holding the left side wing and the right side wing in place relative to the shoe, and with the left side wing not connected to the right side wing, the left side wing may be moved independently from the right side wing.
