Information processing apparatus, information processing system, method for controlling information processing apparatus, and program
Abstract
An information processing apparatus according to the present invention transmits first processing request data in accordance with the content of a user instruction through an operation screen displayed on a Web browser to a Web server, receives a request based on the first processing request data from the Web server, and executes processing in accordance with the received response data. Moreover, before completion of the execution of the processing, the information processing apparatus transmits second processing request data to the Web server at the timing specified by the Web server, and displays an operation screen indicating the state of the processing according to response data received from the Web server.

a second transmitter that transmits the first screen to the image processing apparatus in accordance with the first request and that transmits the second screen to the image processing apparatus in accordance with the second request, the second screen having been generated based on the execution status obtained by the obtainer,
wherein at least a processor and a memory are coupled to cooperate to function as at least one of: the obtainer, the first transmitter, and the second transmitter, and
wherein a timing at which the Web browser makes the second request is defined in the first screen.
10 . The image processing system according to claim 9 , wherein reception of the execution request is carried out using a service provider.
11 . The image processing system according to claim 9 , wherein the obtainer obtains the execution status of the function in accordance with the second request.
12 . The image processing system according to claim 9 , wherein the defined timing is a point in time at which a predetermined amount of time has elapsed after the Web browser displays the first screen.
13 . The image processing system according to claim 9 , wherein the function includes transmitting image data generated by reading an image on an original.
14 . The image processing system according to claim 9 , wherein the execution status includes at least one of a status of the function as being normally terminated, terminated by cancellation, or currently executing.
15 . A Web server that communicates with an image processing apparatus that displays a screen provided by the Web server and executes a function based on an execution request from the Web server, the image processing apparatus including a Web browser that: makes a first request to the Web server in accordance with an instruction entered by a user via the screen, the first request causing the Web server to make the execution request; receives, as a response to the first request, a first screen that indicates an execution status of the function; makes a second request to the Web server for a second screen that indicates an updated execution status of the function; and receives, as a response to the second request, the second screen that indicates the updated execution status of the function from the Web server, the Web server comprising:
an obtainer that obtains the execution status of the function from the image processing apparatus; a first transmitter that transmits the execution request to the image processing apparatus in accordance with the first request; and a second transmitter that transmits the first screen to the image processing apparatus in accordance with the first request and that transmits the second screen to the image processing apparatus in accordance with the second request, the second screen having been generated based on the execution status obtained by the obtainer, wherein at least a processor and a memory are coupled to cooperate to function as at least one of: the obtainer, the first transmitter, and the second transmitter, and wherein a timing at which the Web browser makes the second request is defined in the first screen.
16 . The Web server according to claim 15 , wherein the obtainer obtains the execution status of the function in accordance with the second request.
17 . The Web server according to claim 15 , wherein the defined timing is a point in time at which a predetermined amount of time has elapsed after the Web browser displays the first screen.
18 . The Web server according to claim 15 , wherein the function includes transmitting image data generated by reading an image on an original.
19 . The Web server according to claim 15 , wherein the execution status includes at least one of a status for when the function was normally terminated, a status for when the function was terminated by cancellation, or a status for when the function is currently executing.
20 . An image processing method in an image processing system that includes a Web server and an image processing apparatus that displays a screen provided by the Web server and that executes a function based on an execution request from the Web server, the method comprising steps of:
in a Web browser of the image processing apparatus:
making a first request to the Web server in accordance with an instruction entered by a user via the screen, the first request causing the Web server to make the execution request,
receiving, as a response to the first request, a first screen that indicates an execution status of the function,
making a second request to the Web server for a second screen that indicates an updated execution status of the function, and
receiving, as a response to the second request, the second screen that indicates the updated execution status of the function from the Web server; and
in the Web server:
obtaining the execution status of the function from the image processing apparatus,
transmitting the execution request to the image processing apparatus in accordance with the first request,
transmitting the first screen to the image processing apparatus in accordance with the first request, and
transmitting the second screen to the image processing apparatus in accordance with the second request, the second screen having been generated based on the execution status obtained by the obtainer,
wherein a timing at which the Web browser makes the second request is defined in the first screen.
21 . A method of controlling a Web server that communicates with an image processing apparatus, which displays a screen provided by the Web server, executes a function based on an execution request from the Web server, and includes a Web browser that makes a first request to the Web server in accordance with an instruction entered by a user via the screen, the first request causing the Web server to make the execution request, receives, as a response to the first request, a first screen that indicates an execution status of the function, makes a second request to the Web server for a second screen that indicates an updated execution status of the function, and receives, as a response to the second request, the second screen that indicates the updated execution status of the function from the Web server, the method comprising steps of:
obtaining the execution status of the function from the image processing apparatus; transmitting the execution request to the image processing apparatus in accordance with the first request; transmitting the first screen to the image processing apparatus in accordance with the first request; and transmitting the second screen to the image processing apparatus in accordance with the second request, the second screen having been generated based on the execution status obtained in the obtaining step, wherein a timing at which the Web browser makes the second request is defined in the first screen.
