Projector and method of controlling a light source for use with the projector
Abstract
A projector has a storage unit storing data on a plurality of different light emission patterns each occurring in a period based on a plurality of different-colored lights, wherein each light emission pattern corresponds to a respective one of a plurality of different projection conditions of a color image. An acquiring unit acquires a present projection condition of the color image, and a controller controls a light emission operation of the plurality of different-colored light emitting elements in the period in accordance with data on a light emission pattern corresponding to the present projection condition of the color image.

light emitting elements configured to emit lights of predetermined wavelength regions respectively and to project a color image in a field sequential color system; a memory configured to store a plurality of color light emission pattern information; an acquiring unit configured to acquire information of color components of the color image; a reading unit configured to read one of the plurality of color light emission pattern information based on the color components of the color image acquired by the acquiring unit; and a controller configured to control a light emission pattern for a period of light emission by the light emitting elements based on the color light emission pattern information read by the reading unit.
2 . The projector apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the memory is configured to store simultaneous light emission pattern information including a duration in which two of the light emitting elements simultaneously emit lights.
3 . The projector apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the memory is configured to store a plurality of simultaneous light emission pattern information, each of the simultaneous light emission pattern information including a duration in which two of the light emitting elements simultaneously emit lights.
4 . The projector apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein the plurality of simultaneous light emission pattern information include different durations in which two of the light emitting elements simultaneously emit lights.
5 . The projector apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein the plurality of simultaneous light emission pattern information include different numbers of durations in which two of the light emitting elements simultaneously emit lights.
6 . The projector apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the simultaneous light emission pattern information includes a duration in which all of the light emitting elements simultaneously emit lights.
7 . The projector apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein:
the light emitting elements are configured to emit lights of red, green, and blue; and the simultaneous light emission pattern information comprises complementary color light emission pattern information including one of a first duration in which the light emitting elements emit lights of red and green, a second duration in which the light emitting elements emit lights of green and blue, and a third duration in which the light emitting elements emit lights of red and blue.
8 . The projector apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the memory is configured to store usual light emission pattern information which does not include a duration in which all of the light emitting elements simultaneously emit lights.
9 . The projector apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the acquiring unit is configured to acquire information indicative of whether the color components of the color image include a complementary color component.
10 . A control method for a projector apparatus, the projector apparatus comprising (i) light emitting elements configured to emit lights of predetermined wavelength regions respectively and to project a color image in a field sequential color system, and (ii) a memory configured to store a plurality of color light emission pattern information, the method comprising:
acquiring information of color components of the color image; reading one of the plurality of color light emission pattern information based on the acquired color components of the color image; and controlling a light emission pattern for a period of light emission by the light emitting elements based on the read color light emission pattern information.
11 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having stored thereon a program that is executable by a computer for a projector apparatus, the projector apparatus comprising (i) light emitting elements configured to emit lights of predetermined wavelength regions respectively and to project a color image in a field sequential color system, and (ii) a memory configured to store a plurality of color light emission pattern information, the program being executable by the computer to perform functions comprising:
acquiring information of color components of the color image; reading one of the plurality of color light emission pattern information based on the acquired color components of the color image; and controlling a light emission pattern for a period of light emission by the light emitting elements based on the read color light emission pattern information.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
