Abstract

The present disclosure generally provides an athletic or sports glove. The sports glove includes a palm-receiving portion and a thumb-receiving portion extending from the palm-receiving portion. The thumb-receiving portion has a thumb-gripping projection disposed on it. The sports glove also includes an index finger-receiving portion that also extends from the palm-receiving portion. There is an index finger-gripping projection on the index finger-receiving portion. A little finger-receiving portion also extends from the palm-receiving portion and has a little finger-gripping projection on it. The sports glove also includes a dual finger-receiving portion that also extends from the palm-receiving portion, and it is configured to receive a middle finger and a ring finger of a human hand. There is a dual finger-gripping projection disposed on the dual finger-receiving portion.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A sports glove, comprising:
 a palm-receiving portion having no more than one diamond-shaped projection convexly protruding from the palm-receiving portion;   a thumb-receiving portion extending from the palm-receiving portion and having no more than one thumb-gripping diamond-shaped projection convexly protruding from the thumb-receiving portion and disposed thereon in a position located away from the palm-receiving portion;   an index finger-receiving portion extending from the palm-receiving portion and having no more than one index finger-gripping diamond-shaped projection convexly protruding from the index finger-receiving portion and disposed thereon in a position located away from the palm-receiving portion;   a little finger-receiving portion extending from the palm-receiving portion and having no more than one little finger-gripping diamond-shaped projection convexly protruding from the little finger-receiving portion and disposed thereon in a position located away from the palm-receiving portion; and   a dual finger-receiving portion extending from the palm-receiving portion, the dual finger-receiving portion configured to receive a middle finger and a ring finger of a human hand and having no more than one dual finger-gripping diamond-shaped projection convexly protruding from the dual finger-receiving portion and disposed thereon in a position located away from the palm-receiving portion, wherein each of the diamond-shaped projections are convexly protruding to cushion an impact with the fingers and palm when the wearer catches a ball.   
     
     
         2 . The sports glove of  claim 1 , wherein the projection in the palm receiving portion, the thumb-gripping projection, the index finger-gripping diamond-shaped projection, the little finger-gripping diamond-shaped projection, and the dual finger-gripping diamond-shaped projection each comprise rubber. 
     
     
         3 . The sports glove of  claim 1 , wherein a palmar side of the sports glove comprises a tacky material. 
     
     
         4 . The sports glove of  claim 4 , wherein the tacky material becomes tackier when wet. 
     
     
         5 . The sports glove of  claim 1 , wherein the thumb-gripping projection, the index finger-gripping diamond-shaped projection, the little finger-gripping diamond-shaped projection, and the dual finger-gripping diamond-shaped projection are each located closer to a fingertip portion of the sports glove than the palm-receiving portion. 
     
     
         6 . The sports glove of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a back hand-receiving portion, the back hand-receiving portion comprising a flexible material.   
     
     
         7 . The sports glove of  claim 7 , wherein the flexible material is selected from the group consisting of spandex, neoprene, leather, cotton, and polyester.
