Abstract
A marine flooring assembly having a marine vessel having a fixed surface and a floor covering assembly with an underlayment having an upper surface, an opposing lower surface, and defining a plurality of voids extending from the upper surface to the lower surface, the lower surface of the underlayment directly coupled to the fixed surface of the marine vessel, the floor covering assembly also having a working layer disposed on top of the underlayment, the working layer including a plurality of meshed flexible curled strands, each curled strand having at least one portion directly physically coupled to at least one of another curled strand and an upper surface of the underlayment, the plurality of curled strands defining a lower working surface, an upper working surface, and a plurality of openings thereat.

1 . A marine flooring assembly comprising:
a marine vessel having a fixed surface; and a floor covering assembly having:
an underlayment having an upper surface, an opposing lower surface, and defining a plurality of voids extending from the upper surface to the lower surface, the lower surface of the underlayment directly coupled to the fixed surface of the marine vessel; and
a working layer disposed on top of the underlayment, the working layer including a plurality of meshed flexible curled strands, each curled strand having at least one portion directly physically coupled to at least one of another curled strand and the upper surface of the underlayment, the plurality of curled strands defining a lower working surface, an upper working surface, and a plurality of openings thereat, the plurality of openings being in fluid communication with the plurality of voids of the underlayment.
2 . The flooring assembly according to claim 1 , wherein:
the floor covering assembly substantially conforms to a shape of the corresponding fixed surface of the marine vessel to which it is coupled.
3 . The flooring assembly according to claim 1 , wherein:
the curled strands of the working layer are of a softening filler.
4 . The flooring assembly according to claim 1 , wherein:
the curled strands are formed from PVC material.
5 . The flooring assembly according to claim 1 , wherein:
the working layer and the underlayment are waterproof.
6 . The flooring assembly according to claim 1 , wherein:
the curled strands are coated in a PLASTISOL material.
7 . The flooring assembly according to claim 1 , wherein:
the underlayment is of a polyvinyl material.
8 . The flooring assembly according to claim 1 , further comprising:
a mesh substrate disposed between the working layer and the underlayment.
9 . The flooring assembly according to claim 1 , wherein:
the underlayment has a first frictional coefficient and the working layer has a second frictional coefficient, the first frictional coefficient being larger than the second frictional coefficient.
10 . The flooring assembly according to claim 1 , wherein:
the lower surface of the underlayment has a shape that defines a plurality of water channels between the lower surface of the underlayment and a fixed surface of the marine vessel upon which the lower surface of the underlayment is coupled.
11 . The flooring assembly according to claim 1 , wherein:
