Abstract

This invention provides a method for improving the physico-chemical and usage properties of an existing lubricant, of a solid or liquid consistency, such as gear oils, engine oils and all-purpose oils. The method is based on complementing the composition of the existing lubricant with a mixture of several solid substances (thickeners), in an amount varying from 5 to 35 weight percent of the initial existing lubricant. As a result of their addition, a considerable improvement in a number of the lubricant's properties is achieved. For example, an increase in saturation load, as measured on a 4-ball apparatus of 1600 N to 3150 N; improved friction coefficient μ, the wear scar under 600 N load, and more. Using the method specified in the invention, it is possible to make significant improvements to the quality of a lubricant at relatively low cost.

A method for improving physico-chemical and usage properties of an initially existing lubricant having a solid or a liquid consistency, wherein the initially existing lubricant is a grease, a gel, a gear oil, an engine oil or an all-purpose oil which contains in its composition a set of densely opened prescriptions which have in their composition a set of densely described prescriptions and is subjected to a process of modernization to improve its physical, chemical and usage properties comprising complementing the initially existing lubricant's composition with a additional mixture which is an additional dense set, leading through mutual influence of the dense set and the additional dense set the enlargement of the technical advantages of a middle of oil to three or four thickeners in amounts varying from 5 to 35 weight percent relative to a base weight of the initially existing lubricant;
 including simultaneously at least three thickeners from four recited thickeners lithium stearate, or alternatively lithium 12-hydroxystearate, calcium stearate or alternatively calcium 12-hydroxystearate, magnesium stearate, and aluminum stearate wherein the weight of each of the three or four thickeners amounts to 1 to 40 weight percent of the total weight amount of the three or four thickeners.   
     
     
         2 . The method of improving the physico-chemical and usage properties of an initially existing lubricant of solid or liquid consistency according to  claim 1 , further comprising
 adding from 1 to 20 weight percent of poly-tetra-fluoro-ethylene (PTFE) relative to the weight of the initially existing lubricant.   
     
     
         3 . The method of improving the physico-chemical and usage properties of an initially existing lubricant of solid or liquid consistency according to  claim 1  further comprising adding a member of the group consisting of molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ), tungsten disulfide (WS 2 ), graphite, bentonite, a variety of others, and mixtures thereof that improve various physical, chemical and usage properties of the resulting lubricant. 
     
     
         4 . The method of improving the physico-chemical and usage properties of the initially existing lubricant solid or liquid consistency according to  claim 1  further comprising
 adding a member of the group consisting of a substance of a liquid consistency, substance HiTEC® 1656—product of Afton Chemical Corp., substance HiTEC®312—product of Afton Chemical Corp., poli-methyl-silicon-oxide oil of a viscosity from 10cSt to 1000 cSt, other substances, and mixtures thereof that improve various physical, chemical and usage properties of the resulting lubricant.
