Abstract

An apparatus for removing mold and mildew from sports equipment includes an ozone generator that supplies ozone to a distribution system that directs ozone at a high velocity to both dry and sanitize sports equipment. The high velocity flow of ozone is directed to the interior portions of the sports equipment to dry and sanitize the equipment. The high speed flow of the ozone provides for drying of the interior surfaces of the equipment while also direction impinging ozone flow on interior surfaces to remove undesirable mold and mildew.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A sports equipment sanitizing assembly comprising:
 a sealable cabinet with a sealable door, the sealable cabinet defining an interior chamber;   an ozone generator for generating ozone enriched air mounted an outer surface of the cabinet;   an ozone distribution system within the interior chamber including a plurality of conduits for supporting equipment for sanitization disposed within the cabinet, wherein the plurality of conduits include perforated portions for directing ozone into a piece of sports equipment;   a first fan operating to provide airflow at a first flow rate,   a second fan within the distribution system downstream of the first fan operating to provide airflow at a second flow rate higher than the first flow rate for increasing airflow of ozone enriched air through the distribution system; and   an ozone destruction device mounted to an outer surface of the cabinet and in communication with the interior chamber for removing ozone from the interior chamber and exhausting ozone depleted air through a vent, the ozone destruction device including a chemical compound that transforms ozone into non-harmful elements.   
     
     
         2 . The assembly as recited in  claim 1 , wherein the first fan is disposed within the interior of the chamber and a main conduit communicates ozone enriched air from the ozone generator outside of the cabinet to the first fan. 
     
     
         3 . The assembly as recited in  claim 2 , wherein the first fan communicate ozone enriched air to a manifold including the second fan, wherein the manifold communicates ozone enriched air to the plurality of conduits. 
     
     
         4 . The assembly as recited in  claim 1 , including a lock for the sealable door and prevent access to the interior chamber during operation. 
     
     
         5 . The assembly as recited in  claim 1 , wherein one of the first fan and the second fan are operable according to a defined cycle determined to sanitize equipment supported within the interior of the cabinet. 
     
     
         6 . The assembly as recited in  claim 5 , wherein a cycle time that the second fan and the ozone generator operate for varies relative to the equipment supported within the cabinet. 
     
     
         7 . The assembly as recited in  claim 1 , wherein the plurality of conduits define a torso portion that replicates a human torso. 
     
     
         8 . The assembly as recited in  claim 1 , wherein the plurality of conduits include a plurality of openings can direct ozone rich air against an interior surface of an item of sports equipment. 
     
     
         9 . The assembly as recited in  claim 1 , wherein the destruction device includes manganese dioxide to deconstruct ozone.
