Scented stuffed toys and a method of making

Abstract

A scented stuffed toy includes a body having an internal cavity that is filled with filler material that has absorbed a fragrance substance. The filler material is grain or pellets that are capable of absorbing the fragrance substance, such as an oil-based fragrance liquid. The fragrance substance is mixed with the filler material and then inserted into the body of the stuffed toy to provide a scented stuffed toy. A unique identifier is attached to the stuffed toy to differentiate the stuffed toy from other stuffed toys. The unique identifier comprises at least one indicia that corresponds to one or a combination of a type of fragrance substance and a type of stuffed toy. A method of making the scented stuff toy is provided.

1 . A stuffed toy comprising:
 a body comprised of a plush material and having an internal cavity; and   a filler material within the internal cavity of the body, wherein the filler material includes a fragrance substance absorbed therein.   
     
     
         2 . The stuffed toy of  claim 1  wherein the filler material comprises at least one of a grain, pellets, and beads. 
     
     
         3 . The stuffed toy of  claim 1  wherein the fragrance substance comprises a liquid fragrance. 
     
     
         4 . The stuffed toy of  claim 1  further comprising a unique identifier attached to the stuffed toy to differentiate the stuffed toy from other stuffed toys. 
     
     
         5 . The stuffed toy of  claim 4  wherein the unique identifier comprises at least one indicia that corresponds to one or a combination of a type of fragrance substance and a type of stuffed toy. 
     
     
         6 . The stuffed toy of  claim 1  wherein a supplemental filler material is contained within the internal cavity of the body. 
     
     
         7 . A filler material for positioning within a body of a stuffed toy, the filler material comprised of at least one of a plurality of grains, pellets, and beads and having a fragrance substance absorbed therein. 
     
     
         8 . The filler material of  claim 7  wherein the fragrance substance includes a type of fragrance substance. 
     
     
         9 . The filler material of  claim 8  wherein the type of fragrance substance is incorporated by a unique identifier attached to the stuffed toy. 
     
     
         10 . The filler material of  claim 7  wherein the fragrance substance is a liquid fragrance. 
     
     
         11 . A method comprising:
 providing a stuffed toy comprising a body having an internal cavity;   causing a fragrance substance to be absorbed by a filler material;   filling, at least partially, the internal cavity of the body with the filler material; and   enclosing the body of the stuffed toy to provide a scented stuffed toy.   
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 11  wherein causing the fragrance substance to be absorbed by the filler material further comprises mixing the filler material and the fragrance substance. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 12  wherein mixing the filler material and the fragrance substance comprises adding the filler material and the fragrance substance to a machine adapted to mix the filler material and the fragrance substance. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 13  wherein causing the fragrance substance to be absorbed by the filler material further comprises allowing the filler material to rest after mixing the fragrance substance such that absorption of the fragrance substance can occur. 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 11  wherein the filler material comprises at least one of a grain, pellets, and beads. 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 11  wherein the fragrance substance includes a type of fragrance substance. 
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 16  further comprising attaching a unique identifier to the body of the stuffed toy, the unique identifier having at least one indicia corresponding to at least one of the type of selected fragrance that was absorbed by the filler material. 
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 11  further comprising attaching a unique identifier to the body of the stuffed toy, the unique identifier having at least one indicia to differentiate the scented stuffed toy from other scented stuffed toys. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 18  wherein the at least one indicia includes one of or a combination of a type of fragrance substance and a type of stuffed toy. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 11  further comprising filling the internal cavity with a supplemental filler material before enclosing the body of the scented stuffed toy.
