Aseptic Container with Product Storage and Mixing Chambers

Abstract

A container for housing and producing a liquid comestible product and in situ heating or cooling thereof is constructed for rotation of the lid to release a comestible powder into water. Rotation of the base causes release of liquid to be initiated for allowing mixing of the comestible powder/water blend.

I claim: 
     
         1 . A container for housing and dispensing a liquid comestible product, comprising
 (a) an annular outer housing having an inner surface, an outer surface, a threaded upper neck, an upper opening, and a lower opening;   (b) a base sealing the annular outer housing lower opening;   (c) a sealing member disposed within said annular outer housing, said sealing member further comprising a plurality of upper seal projections and a circular sealing disk mating with the inside surface of the annular outer housing to form an upper comestible chamber for retaining a comestible product divided from a lower mixing chamber for retaining a comestible liquid; and   (d) a threaded lid engaging with the threaded upper neck, said lid providing rams projecting within the upper neck towards contact with the plurality of upper seal projections within the upper opening;   
       wherein advancing the threaded lid within the upper neck forces the rams carried by the lid into advancing contact with the plurality of upper seal projections thereby irreversibly disengaging the sealing member from contact with the inside surface of the annular outer housing, and allowing mixing of the contents of the upper comestible chamber and the lower mixing chamber and subsequent dispensing of the liquid comestible product. 
     
     
         2 . The container of  claim 1 , which is manufactured from one or more of an acrylic polymer, a polyolefin polymer, or polyethylene terephthalate. 
     
     
         3 . The container of  claim 1 , which has a disengageable lid affixed to said threaded neck. 
     
     
         4 . The container of  claim 1 , further comprising an internally threaded lid engaged with an externally threaded neck. 
     
     
         5 . The container of  claim 1 , further comprising a removable shrink wrapping that indicates if product tampering has occurred. 
     
     
         6 . The container of  claim 1  further comprising a comestible product which is one or more of baby formula powder, health/power drink powder, tea, broth, coffee, cocoa, juice, or baby formula. 
     
     
         7 . The container of  claim 6  further comprising a comestible product that is baby formula powder. 
     
     
         8 . The container of  claim 1  further comprising a comestible liquid housed within the upper comestible chamber and a comestible liquid housed within the lower mixing chamber. 
     
     
         9 . The container of  claim 1  further comprising a comestible powder housed within the upper comestible chamber and a comestible liquid housed within the lower mixing chamber, or a comestible liquid housed within the upper comestible chamber and a comestible powder housed within the lower mixing chamber. 
     
     
         10 . A container for housing and dispensing a liquid comestible product, comprising
 (a) an annular outer housing having an inner surface, an outer surface, a threaded upper neck, an upper opening, and a lower opening;   (b) a base sealing the annular outer housing lower opening;   (c) a sealing member disposed within said annular outer housing, said sealing member further comprising a plurality of upper seal projections and a circular sealing disk mating with the inside surface of the annular outer housing to form an upper comestible chamber for retaining a comestible product divided from a lower mixing chamber for retaining a comestible liquid;   (d) a container base with an upper lip, fitted within a race, said race formed in the lower portion of said outer housing wherein the interfit between the container base and the race allows the container base and the outer housing to be rotated relative to each other while forming a seal between the outside environment and the upper comestible chamber and the lower mixing chamber; and   (e) a threaded lid engaging with the threaded upper neck, said lid providing rams projecting within the upper neck towards contact with the plurality of upper seal projections within the upper opening;   
       wherein advancing the threaded lid within the upper neck forces the rams carried by the lid into advancing contact with the plurality of upper seal projections thereby disengaging the sealing member from contact with the inside surface of the annular outer housing, and allowing mixing of the contents of the upper comestible chamber and the lower mixing chamber and subsequent dispensing of the liquid comestible product, while maintaining a seal between the now combined upper comestible chamber and lower mixing chamber . 
     
     
         11 . The container of  claim 10 , which is manufactured from one or more of an acrylic polymer, a polyolefin polymer, or polyethylene terephthalate. 
     
     
         12 . The container of  claim 10 , which has a disengageable lid affixed to said threaded neck. 
     
     
         13 . The container of  claim 12 , further comprising an internally threaded lid engaged with an externally threaded neck. 
     
     
         14 . The container of  claim 13 , further comprising a removable shrink wrapping that indicates if product tampering has occurred. 
     
     
         15 . The container of  claim 10  further comprising a comestible product which is one or more of baby formula powder, health/power drink powder, tea, broth, coffee, cocoa, juice, or baby formula. 
     
     
         16 . The container of  claim 15  further comprising a comestible product that is baby formula powder. 
     
     
         17 . The container of  claim 10  further comprising a comestible liquid housed within the upper comestible chamber and a comestible liquid housed within the lower mixing chamber. 
     
     
         18 . The container of  claim 10  further comprising a comestible powder housed within the upper comestible chamber and a comestible liquid housed within the lower mixing chamber, or a comestible liquid housed within the upper comestible chamber and a comestible powder housed within the lower mixing chamber.
