Abstract

A magazine loader device. The magazine loader device includes a housing designed to receive a magazine. A control element, whose movement is directed by a handle device, coordinates the movement of a plunger designed to push a magazine follower or first cartridge resident at a top of the magazine down into the magazine and a cartridge pusher that pushes a second cartridge into the magazine.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . (canceled)

         2 . A device, comprising:
a plunger designed to push a magazine follower or first cartridge resident at a top of a magazine down into the magazine; a cartridge pusher configured to push a second cartridge into the magazine in a direction substantially perpendicular to the pushing direction of the plunger; and a control element configured to coordinate a relative activation of the plunger and the cartridge pusher.

3 . The device of claim 2 , wherein the plunger pushes the first cartridge down into the magazine via contact with a side of the first cartridge.

4 . The device of claim 2 , wherein the plunger pushes the first cartridge down into the magazine via contact with one or more points or areas of the first cartridge.

5 . The device of claim 4 , wherein the plunger pushes the first cartridge down into the magazine via contact with two or more points or areas of the first cartridge.

6 . The device of claim 2 , wherein the cartridge pusher pushes the second cartridge via contact with a tip of the second cartridge.

7 . The device of claim 2 , further comprising a channel formed in a cartridge tray, the channel guiding the second cartridge into the magazine when pushed by the cartridge pusher.

8 . The device of claim 7 , wherein the cartridge pusher is slidably engaged with the channel.

9 . The device of claim 2 , wherein the plunger is slidably engaged with the control element such that a first range of motion of the control element in a predominantly horizontal direction is translated to a corresponding second range of motion of the plunger in a predominantly vertical direction.

10 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the plunger is slidably engaged with a slot formed in the control element.

11 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the slot includes multiple contiguous slot segments, at least one of the multiple contiguous slot segments translating the first range of motion into the second range of motion.

12 . The device of claim 11 , wherein one of the slot segments translates a third range of motion of the control element in a predominantly horizontal direction to a fourth range of motion of the plunger that produces insubstantial change in a position of the magazine follower or the first cartridge.

13 . The device of claim 2 , wherein the cartridge pusher is slidably engaged with the control element via a slot formed in the control element.

14 . The device of claim 13 , wherein the slot delays the cartridge pusher from pushing the second cartridge fully into the magazine until the plunger is disengaged from the magazine follower or the first cartridge.

15 . The device of claim 14 , further comprising a notch formed in the control element at an end of the slot, the notch engaging the cartridge pusher such that a first range of motion of the control element in a predominantly horizontal direction is translated to a corresponding second range of motion of the cartridge pusher in a predominantly horizontal direction, the second range of motion of the cartridge pusher pushing the second cartridge partially into the magazine, wherein the second range of motion ends when the cartridge pusher moves from engagement with the notch to slidable engagement with the slot.

16 . The device of claim 2 , wherein the control element is a planar element.

         17 . A device, comprising:
a plunger configured to move repeatedly from a first position to a second position, the movement from the first position to the second position being designed to push a magazine follower or first cartridge resident at a top of a magazine down into the magazine; and a cartridge pusher configured to move repeatedly from a third position to a fourth position, the movement from the third position to the fourth position being configured to push a second cartridge into the magazine in a direction substantially perpendicular to the pushing direction of the plunger, the cartridge pusher being activated from the third position when the plunger is positioned substantially near the second position.

18 . The device of claim 17 , further comprising a control element that controls a movement of the plunger relative to the cartridge pusher.

19 . The device of claim 17 , wherein the control element is a planar element.
