Peptide for suppressing and treating obesity

Abstract

The present invention relates to a composition for preventing, alleviating or treating obesity comprising a partial fragment of HIV-1 (Human Immunodeficiency Virus-1) Tat (Trans activator of transcription) protein. The peptides of the present invention induce anorexia and increase lipolysis, β-oxidation of free fatty acids, thermogenesis, and total energy expenditure, therefore may be effectively used for preventing or treating diseases related to metabolic imbalance such as obesity.

1 . A composition for preventing, alleviating or treating obesity, comprising a peptide having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:1 or NO:2. 
     
     
         2 . The composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the peptide has the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2. 
     
     
         3 . A composition for preventing, alleviating or treating obesity comprising a nucleotide encoding the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:1 or NO:2. 
     
     
         4 . The composition according to  claim 3 , wherein the nucleotide encodes the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2. 
     
     
         5 . The composition according to  claim 3 , wherein the nucleotide encodes the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:1, and the nucleotide encoding the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:1 has the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:3. 
     
     
         6 . The composition according to  claim 3 , wherein the nucleotide encodes the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2, and the nucleotide encoding the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2 has the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:4. 
     
     
         7 . The composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the composition is selected from the group consisting of pharmaceutical composition, functional food composition, and cosmeceutical composition. 
     
     
         8 . The composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the peptide inhibits generation of adipose tissue or promotes reduction of adipose tissue. 
     
     
         9 . The composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the peptide induces anorexia. 
     
     
         10 . The composition according to  claim 3 , wherein the nucleotide is contained in a gene delivery system. 
     
     
         11 . The composition according to  claim 3 , wherein the composition is selected from the group consisting of pharmaceutical composition, functional food composition, and cosmeceutical composition. 
     
     
         12 . The composition according to  claim 3 , wherein the nucleotide is an isolated and purified nucleotide encoding the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:1 or NO:2. 
     
     
         13 . A method for preventing, alleviating or treating obesity, the method comprising administering to a subject in need thereof the composition of  claim 1 .
