Contact lens with visual indicator

Abstract

A contact lens is provided with an indicator that is visible when placed in contact with a solution, but substantially transparent when removed from that solution. The indicator may be of the type to designate whether the contact lens is to be worn on the right or left eye.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method for identifying a contact lens, comprising:
 selecting a contact lens, wherein the contact lens includes a lens body having an inner and outer surface, and wherein the contact lens includes an indicator disposed on the outer surface of the contact lens body;   placing the contact lens in contact with a solution, wherein the indicator is configured to become visible when placed in contact with the solution; and   determining whether the contact lens is for the left eye or the right eye based on the indicator.
