Abstract

A display device having a display element is configured such that the extending directions of electrodes are made different from each other among upper, lower, left and right pixels.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A liquid crystal display device comprising:
 a first transparent insulating substrate;   a second transparent insulating substrates arranged opposite to the first substrate at a distance;   a liquid crystal layer is sandwiched between the first and second substrates;   a plurality of gate signal lines and a plurality of video signal lines formed on the first substrate,   a plurality of pixel regions defined by the video signal lines and the gate signal lines, the pixel areas having;
 a thin film transistor element;
 a pixel electrode which has a plurality of slits,
 the direction of the slits formed in the pixel electrode differs between an upper region and a lower region of each pixel region,
 the slit of the upper region and the slit of the lower region are divided in the center of the pixel region.

         2 . A liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 , wherein the slits formed which is not parallel to the gate signal line and the video signal line.

         3 . A liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 , wherein the direction of the slit of the upper region and the slit of the lower region are symmetrically formed on the central portion of the pixel region.

         4 . A liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 , wherein the slits of the upper region and the slits of the lower region of the central portion of the pixel region are arranged alternately each other in a parallel direction for the gate signal line.

         5 . A liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 , wherein the pixel region has a common electrode which has a plane shape, the common electrode is overlapped to the slits of the pixel electrode.

         6 . A liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 , wherein the length of the slit of the central portion of the pixel region has a shorter than the length of other slits.

         7 . A liquid crystal display device according to claim 1 , wherein the length of the slit adjacent to the gate signal line is shorter than the length of other slits.
