Abstract

The invention provides a system capable of printing in a simple manner by detecting the connection of a printer and shifting to a print mode in response to the detection of the printer.

         42 . A reproducing apparatus comprising:
 a reproduction unit configured to read out an image stored in a recording medium and to cause a display apparatus to display the read-out image;   a selection unit configured to select the image to be displayed on the display apparatus;   a communication unit configured to communicate with a printer; and   a designation unit configured to, in a state in which the reproducing apparatus communicates with the printer, designate the image displayed on the display apparatus as a print subject,   wherein in accordance with the designation unit designating the image, a setting screen for setting a print condition of the image displayed on the display apparatus appears,   wherein in a state in which the communication unit does not communicate with the printer, the designation unit does not function as a unit that instructs to shift to the setting screen, and   wherein if the communication unit starts to communicate with the printer in a case where the image is displayed on the display apparatus, the designation unit shifts so as to function as a unit that instructs an appearance of the setting screen.   
     
     
         43 . A reproducing apparatus according to  claim 42 , wherein in a case where after the designation unit effects a designation, the designation unit effects a designation again without a setting operation of the print condition, execution of printing the image displayed on the display apparatus in accordance with a predetermined print condition is instructed. 
     
     
         44 . A reproducing apparatus according to  claim 42 , further comprising an image pickup unit, wherein during an image pickup operation by the image pickup unit, the designation unit does not function as the unit that instructs to shift to the setting screen. 
     
     
         45 . A control method of a reproducing apparatus, the method comprising the steps of:
 reading out an image stored in a recording medium and causing a display apparatus to display the read-out image;   selecting the image to be displayed on the display apparatus;   communicating with a printer by a communication unit;   designating the image displayed on the display apparatus as a print subject by a designation unit in a state in which the reproducing apparatus communicates with the printer;   in accordance with the image being designated by the designation unit in the designation step, causing a setting screen for setting a print condition of the image displayed on the display apparatus to appear, wherein in a state in which the communication unit does not communicate with the printer, the designation unit does not function as a unit that instructs to shift to the setting screen; and   if the communicating step starts to communicate with the printer in a case where the image is displayed on the display apparatus, shifting the designation unit so as to function as a unit that instructs an appearance of the setting screen.   
     
     
         46 . A control method according to  claim 45 , further comprising a step of, in a case where after the designation unit effects a designation in the designation step, the designation unit effects a designation again without a setting operation of the print condition, instructing execution of printing the image displayed on the display apparatus in accordance with a predetermined print condition. 
     
     
         47 . A control method according to  claim 45 , further comprising a step of picking up an image by an image pickup unit, wherein during the image picking-up step, the designation unit does not function as the unit that instructs to shift to the setting screen.
