Golf Teaching and Golf Club Positioning Method

Abstract

Golf teaching and club positioning methods utilize a golf club with a cavity configured to accept the footwear of a golfing instructor, partner, or other assistant. The head of the club has a flat bottom. Once placed flush on the ground, the club is positioned at the proper shaft angle with the club face aligned towards the target, and the assisting individual places his foot into the cavity of the head to maintain it in this position. The golfer then “steps into the golf shot” by accepting the pre-aligned club and positions himself with the club. When the assister's foot is removed from the cavity, the golfer is free to swing the club in the proper pre-shot position. The golf club can be used while playing a round of golf, and also in the teaching process.

1 . A golf teaching method to be used by a golfer and a golfer's instructor, the method comprising the steps of;
 providing a golf club with a shaft and a club head having a club face, a rear surface, a bottom wall having a bottom surface extending continuously the width and length of the club head, and a cut-out cavity extending inwardly from the rear surface, the bottom wall forming the bottom of the cavity;   resting the bottom surface on a ground surface;   positioning the shaft at a desired shaft angle in relation to the ground surface;   inserting a foot of the golfer's instructor within the cavity to maintain the golf club in a stationary position at said desired shaft an   allowing the golfer to grasp and hold the golf club while said golf club is maintained in said stationary position at the desired shaft angle; and   providing instruction to the golfer while said golfer is holding the golf club being maintained in said stationary position at the desired shaft angle.   
     
     
         2 . The golf teaching method as in  claim 1  wherein the bottom surface of the bottom wall is flat. 
     
     
         3 . The golf teaching method as in  claim 1  further comprising the step of positioning various parts of the body of the golfer while the instructor's foot is within the cavity maintaining the golf club in stationary position at the desired shaft angle. 
     
     
         4 . The golf teaching method as in  claim 1  comprising the further step of aiming the club face towards a desired target while the instructor's foot is within the cavity maintaining the golf club in a stationary position at the desired shaft angle. 
     
     
         5 . A golfing method o be used by a golfer and a golfing companion, the steps of the method comprising:
 providing a golf club with a shaft and a club head having a club face, a rear surface, a bottom wall having a bottom surface extending continuously the width and length of the head, and a cut-out cavity extending inwardly from the rear surface, the bottom wall forming the bottom of the cavity;   resting the bottom surface of the club on a ground surface;   positioning the shaft at a desired shaft angle in relation to the ground surface;   inserting a foot of the golfer's companion within the cavity to maintain the golf club in a stationary position at said desired shaft angle;   allowing the golfer to grasp the golf club while said golf club is maintained in said stationary position at the desired shaft angle;   removing the foot of the companion; and   swinging the club while it is in the desired shaft angle.   
     
     
         6 . The golfing method as in claim herein the bottom surface of the club is fiat 
     
     
         7 . The golfing method as in  claim 5  comprising the further step of aiming the club face towards a desired target while the golfer's companion's foot is within the cavity maintaining the golf club in a stationary position at the desired shaft angle.
