Abstract
A cover for a golf club is provided having a void. A club head cover with one or more voids provides beneficial ease of use in the form of good flexibility and a very convenient grip as well as a beneficial view of the covered club. A head cover with voids can be manufactured affordably and designed to provide functional and aesthetic benefits.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A cover for a golf club comprising:
at least one piece of material shaped to define a head region materially connected to a first end of a sleeve member, the sleeve member having an opening at a second end, wherein the cover is configured to receive a golf club; and at least one void through the piece such that a space inside of the cover and an external space are spatially connected at the opening and at the void.
2 . The cover of claim 1 , further comprising an edge of a panel of material joined to a second edge to define a seam.
3 . The cover of claim 2 further wherein the void abuts the seam
4 . The cover of claim 1 wherein the void is positioned to reveal a mark in a corresponding position on a club head.
5 . The cover of claim 1 further comprising two voids.
6 . The cover of claim 5 wherein the two voids define a bridge region of material.
7 . The cover of claim 5 , wherein the two voids are symmetrically opposed in shape, size, and disposition.
8 . The cover of claim 1 further comprising a window disposed to allow a head of a golf club being covered by the cover to be seen while covered.
9 . The cover of claim 8 , wherein the window comprises one selected from the list consisting of transparent material, translucent material, mesh, web, and void space.
10 . The cover of claim 1 , wherein a minimum amount of inelastic two-dimensional material necessary to cover the void is between about 3 cm 2 and about 75 cm 2 .
11 . The cover of claim 1 , wherein a minimum amount of inelastic two-dimensional material necessary to cover the void is between about 25 cm 2 and about 60 cm 2 .
12 . A cover for a golf club comprising:
material disposed to define a right cheek area, a left cheek area, a crown area, a chin area, a nape area, and a sleeve area; an opening configured to receive a golf club head-first; and a void through the material.
13 . The cover of claim 12 further wherein the void has a width and a length, the length being more than about 150% of the length.
14 . The cover of claim 13 , further wherein the void and a second void each abut the nape.
15 . The cover of claim 12 , further comprising a window, the window comprising one selected from the list consisting of transparent material, translucent material, mesh, web, and void space
16 . The golf club of claim 12 , further wherein the sleeve area comprises an elastic material and the crown area and the nape area each comprise a non-elastic material.
17 . The golf club of claim 15 , further wherein the crown area comprises the window.
18 . A cover for a golf club comprising:
a generally bulbous head area and an elongated sleeve area configured to fit over a golf club head and cover at least a portion of a shaft of the golf club; an opening through which a shaft protrudes when the cover is on a golf club; and a void through the cover.
19 . The cover of claim 18 , further comprising a second void disposed symmetrically to the first void and defining a handle therewith.
20 . The cover of claim 18 wherein the sleeve area further comprises stretchable material.
21 . The cover of claim 18 , wherein a perimeter of the void comprises an exposed material edge and a perimeter of the opening comprises an exposed material edge.
22 . The cover of claim 21 , further wherein every exposed material edge participates in a perimeter of a spatial connection between an interior volume of the cover and an exterior volume of the cover.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
