Abstract

A needleless microprotrusion system for infusion of a medicament into a patient includes a plurality of microprotrusions having a length sufficient to penetrate a stratum corneum of the patient. A chemodenervating agent is disposed for delivery by the microprotrusions and a substrate is provided for supporting the microprotrusions and conforming the microprotrusions to a patient's fossa axilaaris in order to enable uniform penetration of the microprotrusions into the corneum.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A needleless microprotrusion system for infusion of a medicament into a patient, the system comprising:
a plurality of microprotrusions having a length sufficient to penetrate a stratum corneum of the patient; a chemodenervating agent disposed on penetrating surfaces of the microprotrusions; a substrate for supporting the microprotrusions, said substrate having a U-shape for conforming to a patients' fossa axillaris in order to enable uniform penetration of the microprotrusions into the fossa axillaris stratum corneum.

2 . The system according to claim 1 further comprising an adhesive disposed on said substrate for temporary adhering said substrate to a patients skin.

3 . The system according to claim 2 wherein said adhesive surrounds said microprotrusion.

4 . The system according to claim 3 wherein said substrate is flexible.

5 . The system according to claim 4 wherein said chemodenervating agent is coated on said microprotrusion.

6 . The system according to claim 5 wherein said chemodenervating agent comprises botulinum toxin.

17 . A method for delivering a medicament a patient's fossa axillaris, said method comprising:
providing a substrate having a U-shape for conforming to the patient's fossa axillaris, said substrate having microprotrusions disposed one side of said substrate, said microprotrusion having a length sufficient to penetrate a stratum corneum of the patients' fossa axillaris; providing a chemodenervating agent for delivering by said microprotrusion; coating the chemodenervating agent on penetrating surfaces of the microprotrusions; and instructing said patient to dispose said substrate in the fossa axillaris.

8 . The method according to claim 7 wherein said chemodenervating agent comprises botulinum toxin.

9 . The method according to claim 8 further comprises providing a flexible substrate.
