Abstract

An information processing system includes: first and second information processing devices for performing communication through a network, which include a first transmission unit for, in the case of data to be downloaded being selected, transmitting a data download request to the second information processing device along with downloaded data identification information, and third information processing device identification information, and a second transmission unit for transmitting a data download request to the third information processing device identified with the data identification information and the device identification information in response to the download request from the first information processing device, respectively; and a third information processing device for downloading data through the network from a distribution server for distributing data, which includes a download unit for downloading data identified with the data identification information from the distribution server in response to the download request from the second information processing device.

         23 . Information processing apparatus configured to perform communication through a network, comprising:
 a terminal located at a first location where a network device is not located, configured to transmit through said network a download request for requesting downloading, data identification information for identifying the data to be downloaded, and device identification information for identifying the network device for performing downloading of data, and   said network device located at a second location different from said first location, configured to perform downloading of data through said network, and downloading content based on said download request, said data identification information, and said device identification information,   wherein a user operates said terminal at the first location to send to the network device said download request to download a desired content, and wherein the user is able to playback the desired content on the network device after the user arrives at the second location where the network device is located.   
     
     
         24 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 23 , wherein the terminal transmits device identification information for identifying a singular or plural network devices. 
     
     
         25 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 23 , wherein the network device comprises:
 download means responsive to a request from a service server for downloading from a distribution server through the network the data identified with said data identification information.   
     
     
         26 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 25 , wherein said distribution server distributes data for each of plural types of devices, and said download means transmits a device typo representing the type of information processing device to said distribution server to download the device type data represented by said device type. 
     
     
         27 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 25 , wherein the network device further comprises:
 reception means configured to receive a downloadable date identifying when data can be downloaded from said distribution server; and   determining means configured to determine, based on said downloadable date, whether or not downloading of the data identified with said data identification information can be performed;   wherein when it is determined that the data identified with said data identification information can be downloaded, said download means downloads the data identified with said data identification information.   
     
     
         28 . An information processing apparatus configured to perform communication through a network, including a processor and a memory unit, comprising:
 reception means for receiving through said network and from a terminal at a first location operated by a user, a download request for downloading data, data identification information for identifying the data to be downloaded, and device identification information for identifying a network device at a second location for performing downloading of data,   providing means for providing to said network device a download control service for controlling the network device to perform downloading of data from a distribution server through the network to the network device,   wherein said first and second locations are different locations.   
     
     
         29 . An information processing apparatus according to  claim 28 , further comprising:
 transmission means configured to transmit through said network to said network device, in response to the download request from the terminal, the download request for requesting downloading of data to the network device identified with said device identification information along with said data identification information.   
     
     
         30 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 29 , wherein said download request is received from the terminal along with terminal identification information for identifying said terminal,
 wherein said reception means receives access information from a providing server configured to provide said access information for accessing the network device identified with said device identification information, when the terminal indentified with said terminal identification information and the network device identified with said device identification information are correlated and registered; and   wherein said transmission means accesses said network device based on said access information to transmit a download request.   
     
     
         31 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 29 , wherein the device identification information identifies a plurality of network devices, and said transmission means transmits a download request to each of the identified plurality of network devices.
