Abstract
Methods—for treatment and prevention of lymphoid malignancies, including, but not limited to acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), B-cell lymphoma, Acute Myeloid leukemia (AML), and mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). The methods include administration of a therapeutically effective amount of FTY720 (2-Amino-2-[2-(4-octylphenyl)ethyl]propane 1,3-diol hydrochloride) or a derivative, pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or a prodrug thereof to a subject.

administering a therapeutically effective amount of 2-Amino-2-[-(4-octylphenyl)ethyl]propane 1,3-diol hydrochloride or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof to a subject in need of such treatment.

5 . A method of preventing acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in a subject, the method comprising the step of
administering a therapeutically effective amount of 2-Amino-2-[2-(4-octylphenyl)ethyl]propane 1,3-diol hydrochloride or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, to a subject at risk of developing acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

8 . A method of inducing apoptosis in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in a subject, the method comprising the step of
administering a therapeutically effective amount of 2-Amino-2-[2-(4-octylphenyl)ethyl]propane 1,3-diol hydrochloride or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, to a subject in need of such treatment.
