Abstract

A method of purification and modification of carbon nanoproduct involves forcing a mixture of the dehydrated air or oxygen or ozone or any combination thereof through the carbon nanoproduct under pressure up to 0.8 MPa accompanied by mixing of the carbon nanoproduct and heating in the temperature range from +20 to +550° C. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method of purification and modification of carbon nanoproduct, providing purified and modified carbon nanomaterial, comprising forcing a mixture of dehydrated air or oxygen or ozone or any combination thereof through the treated material under pressure up to 0.8 MPa accompanied by mixing of the treated material and heating in the temperature range from +20 to +550° C. 
     
     
         2 . The method of purification and modification of carbon nanoproduct according to  claim 1  where mixing of the carbon nanoproduct is achieved using at least one of directional flows of a gas mixture and mechanical agitation. 
     
     
         3 . The method of purification and modification of carbon nanoproduct according to  claim 1 , where the carbon nanoproduct comprises detonation soot. 
     
     
         4 . The method of purification and modification of carbon nanoproduct according to  claim 1 , where the carbon nanomaterial comprises nanodiamond material. 
     
     
         5 . The method of purification and modification of carbon nanoproduct according to  claim 1 , where the purification includes purification from graphite, amorphous carbon and gas inclusions. 
     
     
         6 . The method of purification and modification of carbon nanoproduct according to  claim 3 , where the purification and modification includes purification from graphite, amorphous carbon and gas inclusions with simultaneous surface modification of nanodiamond material by oxygen and ozone. 
     
     
         7 . The method of purification and modification of carbon nanoproduct according to  claim 3 , producing nanodiamond material with 20-50% of the surface of the nanodiamond material covered by oxygen and nitrogen containing groups. 
     
     
         8 . The method of purification and modification of carbon nanoproduct according to  claim 3 , favoring the penetrating of the working gas inside pores of the aggregates of diamond nanoparticles and efficient destruction of the bonding between nanoparticles 
     
     
         9 . The method of purification and modification of carbon nanoproduct according to  claim 3 , increasing uniformity of the sizes of the nanoparticles of the resulting product due to destruction of the aggregates of nanodiamond (de-aggregation) and increased oxidation of non-diamond carbon. 
     
     
         10 . The method of purification and modification of carbon nanoproduct according to  claim 1 , further including any other variant of gas mixtures. 
     
     
         11 . The method of purification and modification of carbon nanoproduct according to  claim 1 , where the gas mixture in any ratio of components including an individual gas component is selected based upon the type of carbon nanomaterial to be treated. 
     
     
         12 . The method of purification and modification of carbon nanoproduct according to  claim 1 , further comprising purification of the carbon nanoproduct to remove metal impurities prior to the purification and modification. 
     
     
         13 . The method according to  claim 1 , where prior to the purification and modification, the carbon nanoproduct is dehydrated until a residual water content is below approximately 3 wt % to produce dehydrated carbon nanoproduct that is further mechanically milled down to particle sizes not exceeding 1 micron.

A method of purification and modification of generally purified carbon nanomaterial comprising forcing a mixture of the dehydrated air or oxygen or ozone or any combination thereof through the treated material under pressure up to 0.8 MPa accompanied by mixing of the treated material and heating in the temperature range from +20 to +550° C. 
     
     
         15 . The method of purification and modification of carbon nanomaterial according to the  claim 14 , where the carbon nanomaterial comprises a mixture of nanodiamond, and/or carbon nanotubes, and/or fullerenes. 
     
     
         16 . The method of purification and modification of carbon nanomaterial according to the  claim 14 , where the carbon nanomaterial comprises a nanodiamond material. 
     
     
         17 . The method of purification and modification of generally purified nanodiamond material according to  claim 16 , further including purification of the nanodiamond material to remove metal impurities prior to the purification and modification. 
     
     
         18 . The method according to  claim 16 , where prior to the purification and modification, the nanodiamond material is dehydrated until a residual water content is below approximately 3 wt % to produce dehydrated nanodiamond material that is further mechanically milled down to particle sizes not exceeding 1 micron. 
     
     
         19 . A method of purification and modification of generally purified carbon nanomaterial comprising forcing a mixture consisting essentially of dehydrated oxygen or ozone or any combination thereof through the treated material under pressure up to 0.8 MPa accompanied by mixing of the treated material and heating in the temperature range from +20 to +550° C. 
     
     
         20 . The method of purification and modification of carbon nanomaterial according to the  claim 19 , where the carbon nanomaterial comprises a mixture of two or more of nanodiamond, or carbon nanotubes, or fullerenes or nanodiamond material. 
     
     
         21 . The method of purification and modification of generally purified nanodiamond material according to  claim 19 , further including purification of the nanodiamond material to remove metal impurities prior to the purification and modification. 
     
     
         22 . The method according to  claim 19 , where prior to the purification and modification, the nanodiamond material is dehydrated until a residual water content is below approximately 3 wt % to produce dehydrated nanodiamond material that is further mechanically milled down to particle sizes not exceeding 1 micron.
