Abstract

Advantageous apparatus are provided for facilitating maintenance of an automated pool cleaning device. The device includes a filter assembly, e.g., a bucket-type filter assembly, that is removable from the base of the pool cleaner through a closable top opening of the pool cleaning device, such as a hinged lid. The filter assembly can include a body, a frame, and a filter element.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A pool cleaner, comprising:
 a motor;   a housing assembly having a closable top opening; and   a bucket-type filter assembly configured to be removably received by said housing assembly through said closable top opening, said bucket type filter assembly including at least one intake channel for receiving unfiltered fluid;   said bucket-type filter assembly including (i) a frame over said motor between said closable top opening and said motor, (ii) a body, and (iii) at least one filter element in secured arrangement with said frame, said at least one filter element cooperating with said body to define at least one intake flow region configured for fluid communication with said at least one intake channel, said at least one filter element at least partially defining within said cleaner a vent flow region for receiving filtered fluid for outflow.
